What would you say is the main idea behind My Moralist Caged? You call it an AU so I’m curious what you’ve changed!! Also I love your Jekyll, my little skrunkly <3

shyshyaaaaaa answered:

ahhh thank you!!!

honestly, the best way i can put it is through the main theme that ive been writing through: being trapped (which you can extrapolate from the title im sure). there was a lot of different ideas that i had and basically made a bunch of posts saying “what if so and so did such and such” or “what if instead of blah blah blah it was this instead”, which is kinda why ive been calling it an au!!! i took some of those ideas and have put them together into a kind of story!! not too say too much, but one of the main ideas that helped me write this whole thing was the idea of jekyll being… more involved with murder. in his own pathetic way, of course.

i don’t necessarily know if thats the answer you were looking for, but its the best one i can provide without spoiling too much of the major plot that im cooking up!!!! thank you for your support!!!!

oooooh yes color me intrigued 👀 ‘jekyll being more involved with murder in his own pathetic way’ THAT has me sold I MUST know moreeeeee jekyll and hyde my moralist caged

Some TGS thoughts, some theorizing. You all know the drill by now.

I love the last page. This confrontation is getting juicy. Jekyll is right that Hyde won’t stop fighting for his freedom. But Hyde is also right to point out that’s not inherently bad.

And I can think of the perfect example to prove Hyde’s points about fighting, wanting, living being necessary, too.

When Jekyll finally went after Lanyon, he was, in a sense, channeling his inner Hyde-ness to overcome his fear. He found the courage to say what he wanted, aloud, which is a very hard thing for him to do. But it was worth it.

There’s a reason Jekyll got so depressed before he first made the transformation potion. He couldn’t have the man he loved. Back then, he couldn’t even really acknowledge those feelings as love, just calling them “unnatural desires.” He couldn’t have the things he wanted. He couldn’t express himself. Deep down, he thought he was evil and wrong for even wanting those things.

He couldn’t be happy.

image

But Hyde, free from Jekyll’s repression and need to keep a polished reputation, chases after the things that make him happy, regardless of how ‘improper’ they are. Blackfog being a prime example.

Hyde is the part of Jekyll that wants to truly live, not merely exist. And Jekyll needs him. Especially now, when Jekyll is trying to disappear for good.

Anyway, let’s get back to the present.
