If you start with one quart of cream (32 ounces), you’ll make about one pound of butter (16 ounces, or four sticks).

Next, turn on the mixer at low speed, then gradually increase to high speed and whip until you get whipped cream. *If you want your butter salted, add salt now. Stop mixing, scrape down sides, then continue mixing until you start to see liquid separate and hard butter form.
