The Stone Pier Lighthouse at Morecambe, Lancashire, England was built in 1855. The octagonal stone tower with lantern and gallery is 26 feet tall. The lighthouse formerly guided railroad ferries sailing between Morecambe, England and Ireland. It is operated by the Lancaster Port Commission. MORECAMBE LIGHTHOUSE IS LOCATED AT THE END OF THE STONE PIER IN MORECAMBE BAY ABOUT 5 KM (3 MI) NORTHWEST OF LANCASTER. MORECAMBE LIGHTHOUSE WAS BUILT IN 1855, AND HAS A CONTINUOUS WHITE LIGHT AND AN ACTIVE FOCAL PLANE 12 M (39 FT). THE OCTAGONAL STONE TOWER WITH LANTERN AND GALLERY IS 8 M (26 FT) TALL.
