You ever think about the MOVE bombing and then think about the fact that so few US Americans even know that the MOVE bombing like. Happened.

"The United States is dedicated to moving bombs away from people who would use them for nefarious purposes! Google MOVE bombing to learn more!"

this also doesn't come close to telling the whole story.

the Philadelphia police harassed the MOVE organization for over a decade. MOVE began with peaceful protests against conditions at long-term-care facilities and against the city Zoo's mistreatment of animals. in 1972, police classified the group’s use of profanity as riotous and designated them violent threats to public order. the actual reason was their radical abolitionist message.

the Philadelphia police department had a brutal, corrupt, and racist reputation long before MOVE entered the picture. despite that fact, MOVE’s claims of police brutality typically fell on deaf ears, even when they had undeniable proof of mistreatment. the bombing is only one part of the story both because it is the culmination of violence between MOVE and the police and also because it is part of the broader narrative of police brutality in Philadelphia that is still largely played out today.

in 1957, two Black men were beaten by three off duty and allegedly drunk police officers, putting one in the hospital for 19 days. the commissioner at the time testified that all officers were trained in "race relations," which involved things such as having officers brandish shotguns out the window of their patrol vehicles as a show of force in so called "shotgun squads." the three officers were not convicted of any crimes.

in 1960, shots indiscriminately fired by officer Robert Marinelli killed two innocent Black bystanders. Marinelli was charged, tried, and then found not guilty on all charges by an all-white jury.

in 1967, a guy named Frank Rizzo became the police chief. his nickname while working in West Philadelphia as a captain was "The Cisco Kid," which referenced the fictional cowboy who "killed for the love of it or any other reason that came to mind." he referred to "vermin" in Philadelphia as the source of the crime and decline.

shortly after he was appointed, he sicced 300 officers in riot gear on Black students and advisors protesting the Board of Education who were protesting the lack of Black studies and Black teachers. Rizzo ordered the officers to "get their Black asses." 57 protesters were arrested, dozens were beaten, and 15 were hospitalized. Frank Rizzo was elected Mayor of Philadelphia 3 years later and during his bid for re-election in 1975, he said that he would "make Attila the Hun look like a faggot" once he was reelected.

so yeah, not only is the MOVE bombing virtually unheard of by the average person in America (and it's not much better in academia, for that matter), but the story that is often told when people do hear about is that this all happened in a vacuum "due to the actions of a violent Black resistance group." in reality, it was the culmination of over 50 years of brutality against Black people and minorities in Philly.

it's important to talk about how pop psychology sucks ass. but that shouldn't distract you from also talking about how Serious, Official, Legitimate Psychology also sucks ass.

leviathan-supersystem

major issues with psychology/psychiatry as it currently exists:

  • an insistence on viewing different mental types through the lens of "illnesses" that need to be "treated"- it's obvious that different people have minds that work in different ways, but instead of trying to understand the different advantages and disadvantages of different mental states, and trying to help each person reach their full potential with the mind they have, psychology/psychiatry imagines a hypothetical person who's way of thinking never hinders them in any way, and then treats everyone who doesn't fit this imagined model as Sick. because every single person will always have certain situations where their style of thinking hinders them, psychology increasingly pathologizes more and more mindsets and behaviors. in pop psychology this reaches the absurd endpoint of claiming "everyone is mentally ill to some degree", but ultimately this is just an overt stating of what's implied in Legitimate Psychology.

  • an over-focus on neurology which ignores obvious social/memetic factors. you'll see someone who falls into right-wing conspiracy theory hysteria, with the flat earth and the reptilians and so forth, get diagnosed as "schizophrenic", and there's an assumption that it's something innate to their neurology that led them to these beliefs, but like, if you look at the mechanisms of what's occurring when someone adopts these sort of beliefs, the primary thing that's happening is they're getting indoctrinated into an ideology by a group. maybe there are certain neurological factors which led them to be more vulnerable to that, but if you're trying to "treat" them by treating beliefs they were indoctrinated into by other people as though they sprung forth fully formed from their "schizophrenic neurology" then you're missing at least 80% of the picture.

before you make that post about "the crisis facing men and boys" or "preventing redpill radicalization" stop and check in:

is your proposed solution

  1. increased labor of women and girls
  2. women and girls enduring more abuse for the benefit of men and boys
  3. women and girls suppressing their emotions (fear, anger, resentment, etc.) and limiting their speech
  4. blaming populations of women (e.g. trans women, women involved in sex trades, racialized women) for the actions of men and expecting these women to endure punishment for men
  5. focusing on maintaining manhood and masculinity while reducing the discomfort men feel about holding this position; framing men's feelings of insecurity as the central issue to be addressed when it comes to violent misogyny

if so:

your "solution" to behavioral patterns emerging within patriarchy is more patriarchy.

instead:

try to imagine literally anything else.

The majority of people are horny. People are always going to be horny. You cannot stop people from being horny. Throughout history there have been extensive attempts to suppress horniness and they haven’t worked. You can be mad about it all you want but horniness will prevail against any adversity. There will always be an aspect of horniness within society. Sexuality cannot be contained by having missionary sex with your spouse alone in the privacy of a dark bedroom.

why the hell is the TERF and anti-kink crowd is in the notes of this post? don’t you have anti-masturbation cornflakes to sell or whatever

i really hate to ask for help cuz like, it makes me feel vulnerable, but like, I need help with affording food to feed myself and sister, and stuff to make my life more livable like new clothes and toiletries.

not getting into it.in detail but I live in a pretty abusive household that gets harder to leave by the second and it does take a massive toll on my mental and physical health.

if you wanna support me, (disabled black trans guy) my link is here. if not that's ok too! I'm very glad people on Tumblr have been kind enough to offer patronage even if I seem kinda crazy. i think my mental health will improve once I find an opening to leave.

thank you, have a good day everyone!

transfem people getting smeared and purposely harassment campaigned is horrible and I think people should not engage with that stuff, in fact you should protect vulnerable transfems from that.

that said:

i wish y'all had the same energy when people of color, especially black folks experience the same stuff, it's kind of infuriating watching many people agree that harassment campaigns are bad but will turn their nose when it's happening to a person of color, god forbid it be a trans woman of color too.

its okay to be fat! unless you are on purpose. unless you've never tried dieting before. unless you're disabled. unless you're not actively trying to be the healthiest person in the room. unless you sit down. unless you drink soda. unless you aren't fashionable. unless you aren't white. unless you get off on it. unless you exist.
