I need help, stat, my friend is throwing an Always Sunny themed party and I can't decide whether I should be Mac wearing the Duster or Dennis;

Macs Outfit: I have sunglasses, a long black leather jacket and a white cropped shirt that I think will be funny to wear, but no blue jeans I might be able to find some fake tattoos as well

Dennis's Outfit: I have a black shirt, black jeans and the long leather jacket, I just worry it's too simple

I will be wearing a black backwards baseball cap with either because I have bright purple hair with flames and an undercut and I already had a mohawk this week so I'm not doing a wig or anything else crazy with my hair, anyway advise is appreciated so I don't have to decide

I hope she doesn't see this and think I'm cheating at the party

If you’re asking me.. I think you subconsciously already know what you want..

Would love to see photos of the party if you feel comfortable sharing! I hope you have a ton of fun as Mac ;)

not sure if you've already seen but episode 2 of s17 now has an actor listed on imdb! he's cast as "judge," which could possibly mean that the episode will be set in court? there's also a stunt double listed for kaitlin so I'm guessing she's gonna get hit with the ambulance lol. would love to hear your thoughts!

I did not see that yet!! Very interesting…

Funnily, Hugh Holub seems to have quite a few prior Judge credits, so I think it’s safe to assume he is playing a court Judge of some kind. So, does that imply Mac and Dennis get caught and face actual consequences? Or is there a B-plot in EMTs which involves court? Hmm… another item to stick on the wall while we wait for more info..

(As of right now we’re operating under the assumption that #1702 is Mac and Dennis Become EMTs based on production order as well as stunt credits for this episode including a stunt driver:

Because we know the “Ambulance episode” involved some fancy camera/car work, directed by Heath Cullens.)

And another credit for Lauren Danielle Pugh as Kaitlin’s stunt double this Season (she’s also credited for #1704, Thought Leadership) plus Kimberly Shannon Murphy is credited for Kaitlin’s stunt double for Episode 1 of S17 (it seems kinda weird they would have used a different stunt performer for her in one season, but I do not know a lot about stunt work, tbh) so it looks like they’re definitely putting Dee through the ringer this season lmfaoo…

also Heath Cullens did like this comment on his post about the episode (but then again, he liked all (5) comments):

So that’s always been a little theory.. and the gag of them destroying her car is a classic to me, so I am personally gunning for them ramming that ambulance right into her parked car (that, based on her having a stunt double this episode, she might be inside..). Or maybe she tries to be a part of Mac and Dennis’ scheme and ends up going out the back of the ambulance mid-run.. many. many possibilities here.. how fun

"JUST PUT IT IN ME DEAR"

"I'm already in you"

Is wild 😭

It seems like those were generally the extras and stuff. Wonder why they didn't put it in the main show 😭

They used to put a lot of the more raw characterisation stuff in the extras… Deleted scenes and cut scenes from scripts are pretty consistent with this as well, where anything that overly shows you the character’s ass doesn’t make it into the “main show” as you would say.

The ideas/understandings are buried in the episodes, always, but the more blatant stuff is pulled to the side, because it really is written for them as part of that deeper understanding (and those of us who actually understand the characters and want to see that stuff)

Wait dennis canonically has a small dick? What did I miss 😭

Well besides the general sensitivities Dennis has to jokes about his dick and the fact that all of his pants are tight and very shallow at the crotch

There’s this DVD Extra from Season 4 in which he’s having sex with a woman who can’t “feel him” (so to say)…

image

And this featurette made for the (OG) Paddy’s Pub Blog in Season 8 in which Dennis claims convincing girls a shot glass is a regular size glass is a good way to make your dick seem bigger:

I mean there’s not a hard “Dennis Reynolds has a small penis” line, but I would say these things are about on par with if not maybe more damning than the hints that Mac has a small dick

Dunno if this is the type of ask you want but my dad said there should be an episode where the gang gets abducted by aliens. Thoughts?

Hmm. Well, personally, while I like the more cartoony-aspects of the show, I prefer that it stay somewhat in reality and I can’t really imagine how an alien abduction would really play-out “realistically” in the show (without it just being, like, a dream, which, meh)

And honestly, considering the nature and entire being of the McPoyles, The Gang Gets Held Hostage is kinda pretty close to an alien abduction episode already

i think about that scene all the time considering that it’s part of the dream. makes me smile to think that old man clocked him so hard.

Oh to hear the stories OBM could tell about late nights in that apartment…

i read the play sirens is based off of and his character is dating the character played by milly alcock. iirc he was for lack of a better word a himbo. sweet but stupid. unsure how faithful this adaptation will be to that story but do with that information what you will.

Haha, yes, I know… I did read the play back when it was first announced he was cast as Ethan, and I wrote a little summary here with my thoughts.

The thing is (and I briefly mentioned this in the post linked), it seems strange to cast a larger age difference and state that Glenn’s character in the show is a “life-long bachelor” when his character in the play is literally “Simone’s boyfriend”. Plus the show takes place across a single (long) weekend, so it doesn’t even seem like there would be time to get them together, if the intent was to stretch the story out more in that way… (and, weirdly, in the play his boat is named Ethan II, but in the show that’s his name? lmfao..)

So there seem to be a few subtle hints that they changed the dynamic between those two characters, and considering it’s a “dark comedic exploration of women, power, and class” it seems all but necessary to have a gay character in there (and we know it’s not Kevin Bacon or Josh Segarra’s characters…)

…but yes, I do know that, considering the the source material, I sound a little lot like Charlie Kelly in the mailroom, lmfao. But I will be truthing that they hit his character with the LGBT beam until there’s evidence to the contrary !

hi sorry going off ur tags i wanna contribute w some maybe interesting info as someone who got sucked into iasip by youtube compilations this year: the algorithm doesnt actually rly feed you macden when you start watching those. not even as someone who has a very gay youtube suggestions algorithm. and if they DO feed u gay stuff, its somehow usually dennis or the whole gang? like you can even search for 'mac gay compilation' and it'll give you videos of dennis instead. which is insane considering mac like IS gay canonically. my specific iasip pipeline was blooper reels bc i like watching the blooper reels of random tv shows but yeah prior to watching the show i was vaguely aware of macdennis as a ship but it wasnt massively pushed on youtube. .....and then i watched the pilot

I am not someone who uses Tiktok/Instagram Reels or really uses Youtube to “just watch things” at all, so it’s fascinating to me that a chunk of people will watch compilations or bloopers of a show before they’ve ever actually watched the show, lmfao.

In some ways I’m almost not surprised that the algorithm doesn’t push ship content for Sunny, because so much of their audience just watches it as a drunk/high sitcom (and I’m sure the views on compilations fall into that demo) but the fact that Gay Mac brings up Dennis instead is hilarious…

I feel like s17 is going to be really light on macdennis. What's your vibe?

More or less agree with you there!

We tend to see their relationship (d)evolve more in the even seasons, with the odd seasons being more “odd” or experimental, so I am not expecting anything to Frank Vs Russia’s caliber when it comes to Mac and Dennis this season

I am really excited for Mac and Dennis Become EMTs, though, because all of the “Mac and Dennis” episodes are top tier and I think we’ll get ~something~ just in the nature of them running a scheme together, but, again not expecting anything massive, just fun

Sorry about that last ask. It was 3 AM and I don't know what I was thinking.

Lmao, It’s fine. Just not looking to have any kind of discussion on this topic honestly.

Always down to take asks about the character’s sexualities, though!
