I was bracing for the kid to get corrected on calling me a girl but when it didn’t happen i felt such a relief instantly. At no point did it become A Problem for me to deal with, grandpa just gently had a convo about how women come in all sizes and how the boy has really tall family members too and I’m just sitting here trying not to cry (positive) bc gender euphoria mixed with it just being such a cute convo to listen to.
I’ve been having a lot of anxiety lately as someone who “doesn’t pass” but who’s also extremely Visible due to being 6’2” and having a very distinctive style, but every time I have a younger queer or kid look at me with stars in their eyes because some facet of me that I refuse to hide is amazing to them, it makes me so fucking happy. Like, to this kid I wasn’t some tranny, I was just a Giant Woman and he didn’t realize that was possible until he saw me. 🥹

I have 0 height dysphoria, I legitimately love being tall. I’m mad that between the spinal damage and the estrogen I lost 2” of height bc I used to be 6’4” and my tallest heels put me at almost 6’9”
Like I know a lot of dolls have Feelings (dysphoria) about their height, and even some other trans people have been Freaks to me about it, but I revel in it.

Trans women are assigned gender out of convenience for those who wish to control or abuse us.
One moment, we’re a woman who can be spoken over, overlooked, and ignored. The next, (often when we have the gall to stand up for ourselves) we’re men who are violent angry and abusive.
We have so little control of our own identities, we’re a third sex to twist and transform to your convenience. No wonder we’re so often scapegoated.
100% agreed, but I also want to bring up a similar concern specific to Black transfemmes: the intersection of gendered *racialization* and transmisogyny (as a subset of transmisogynoir)
By gendered racialization I mean the way that society views and treats us based on their categorization of us as Black Men and Black Women. While with what OP is describing it tends to be an either/or situation, for Black transfemmes, being openly/visibly Black and transfemme makes us subject to both concurrently. We do not get to leave being a “Black Man” behind even temporarily in the eyes of others, especially given society’s view of all Black women as being “masculine” no matter how “femininely” we present or behave.
For us, gendered racialization compounds each other, leaving us to be treated as both Strong and Aggressive Black Women and Virile and Violent Black Men at all times. We are often “positively” reduced to the ways we can support those around us or our sexual prowess/characteristics (real or rumored), while the second a nonblack person has something to gain from our suffering there’s no issue painting all of our actions as intimidating, aggressive, or forward. Of claiming a fear of violence, of harm, of impropriety that will be believed by many nonblacks no matter how we truly act or what we do.
Recently, another Black transfemme I know was accused of being a “homeless attempted coercive rapist” for commenting that she was going to take a nap in her car (before going back to her apartment) because she didn’t feel sober enough to drive responsibly. Later on, a white trans woman who was leaving at the same time used this to try to claim that she was trying to force her to let her come home with, and sleep with her because “she was homeless and sleeping in her car” despite the Black transfemme having an apartment at the time and the white trans woman knowing this.
The white woman’s reasoning? Another white trans woman had a crush on the Black trans woman, and the first white wanted to fuck the second, so she was willing to try and use these facets of gendered racialization to try to eliminate the Black trans woman from the “competition” on a whim.
This isn’t a rare occurrence, and for many Black transfemmes not in majority-Black spaces, this happening is a “when” not an “if” and a constant consideration we have to account for. If there’s not another Black transfemme around (such in small queer communities or isolated friend groups) we may be taken completely unawares by something that’s just.. sickeningly common.
Which is why I feel it’s important to highlight this on the back of OP’s post - because even nonblack transfemmes have no issue using this against us if it benefits them. Even the staunchest transfeminists aren’t immune to the allure of using transmisogynoir to their own benefit. But you have to know to be a hypocrite, and now y’all can’t say you ain’t know.

Bioessentialism is when you assign differences in sex and gender purely to biological reasons. The classic misogynistic one is that women are naturally better housekeepers because the female mind has the traits needed to be a live in maid, caregiver, and cook. This is untrue, men can also do all of this things. However, in society, men aren’t expected to do those tasks like women, and henceforth are never taught.
“I, as a lesbian, would rather not date men” is not bioessentialist. It could be bioessentialist, if the argument were to say something like “because men are naturally more violent because of their testosterone.” This isn’t true! However, there are reasons to avoid dating men like…in general. The dominant culture for men doesn’t really teach them to treat women with respect, and this isn’t even going into rape culture. Also sometimes a woman doesn’t want to be with a man in the first place, and insisting she must is fucking weird!
The different is that bioessentialism creates a world where any differences are engraved in stone as biologically sound. You can’t make men less violent compared to women, so you shouldn’t try, and pointing it out is mean to men. A lot of feminist political views are demonstrably about societal issues that get lumped under bioessentialism, because those societal issues for a lot of people are maybe just a litttttttle too hard to talk about.
Bioessentialism doesn’t provide the room for society to actually work on the issue, and it’s how you get “solutions” like gendered sports and the constant fears around the idea of a unisex bathroom.
Bioessentialism just throws its hands up in the air and goes “it’s in their balls I guess, nothing we can do about it”
PRO TIP: Anyone trying to sell you a narrative in which a trans woman’s previous connection to her CAMAB is ontologically more important than a trans man’s connection to his own gender is doing a bioessentialism. Like big time. It asserts that connection to male privilege is determined purely biologically and not through societal means.
The ADL is an Israeli/Zionist advocacy group at its core. It’s main priority as an organization is to protect Israel and its mission for a Jewish Ethno-State. This is especially true under Johnathan Greenblatt’s leadership who has said “antizionism is antisemitism”
It’s easy to think that the “Anti Defamation League” has no underlying agenda given its history as a “civil rights organization” but it has constantly used that as a screen for extremely right wing positions on Israel.

In this leak Greenblatt recognizes that the annexation is a violation of basic human rights. To me this is a clear indication that they are less concerned with civil rights and more concerned with shaping the public image of Israel, especially in the US. Really urge you all to read this leak!
Supported South African Apartheid (surprise surprise) and participated in propaganda against Nelson Mandela and the ANC. They even employed a spy named Roy Bullock to infiltrate the anti-apartheid campaign in the US. They later settled a law suit for this. (Source)
That’s not even close to the only time they’ve utilized spies. THIS recent leak of Greenblatt talks about ADL having spies in Jewish Voice for Peace and other organizations. It also talks about how they are having a hard time with the global youth no longer buying into their propaganda. Another source you should give your full attention to. PLEASE listen to that whole thing. It’s truly terrifying. You’re gonna hear them talk a lot about why Tiktok is a danger to their mission.

I could go on and on about how terrible and deceitful the ADL is. The sources above are a good start to understanding why we shouldn’t trust the ADL but please look into all the other things they’ve done like working with the FBI to spy on Arab Americans, infiltrating student organizations they find to be a threat to “Israel’s image”, surveillance, the people who fund/donate to them etc.
The best way to fight orgs like this is to share/spread this info as much as you can. It’s clearly working because they’re losing global support especially with the youth.
