I had a cancellation so had a few minutes to record some of the activities we are doing this week with plastic rings.   Bilateral coordination is the ability to use the left and right sides of the body in a coordinated way. Sometimes we use both sides simultaneously, sometimes one is dominant and the other side helps, sometimes we coordinate the upper body with the lower body.  Crossing the midline is a key skill that helps us to see if the left and right sides of the body are integrated. Can the left hand move to the right side of the body without compensation or does the child switch hands in the middle? The asymmetrical tonic neck reflex is a primitive reflex which typically integrates by 6 months old. This video depicts testing ATNR in quadruped by passively rotating the child’s head. A child with an 𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘱𝘳𝘪𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘳𝘦𝘧𝘭𝘦𝘹 should be able to 𝘮𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘢𝘳𝘮𝘴 𝘦𝘹𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘥 even while their head rotates.
