Instant locs is the process of back combing the hair and crocheting loose hairs to surpass the starter & budding phase of locs. Instant loc do not create “mature” locs because it does not fully lock the hair internally. However it aids in skipping about 6 months of the first process.   I like to start about an inch down to still leave room to palm roll or interlock after instant locking.   Start with the needle facing upright ( numbers towards you) and pull the hook from the left to the right ➡️ then turn the needle over ( numbers facing clients head) and pull again from the left to the right.   Make sure no hair is being snapped and the hair is still staying on the hook 🪝.
