Laima Ceramics on Instagram: "I have been making this specific volcanic glaze recipe for 10 years, but only last year I figured out that I can wash away a narrow line in the middle and inlay that with the volcanic effect to get this kind of "lace" effect.   The surface is actually pleasant to the touch and not rough, but still I think they feel more functional and for sure look more elegant in this way.   The "secret ingredient" for any crater glaze recipe is silicon carbide- material found originally for the first time in 1893 in Canyon Diablo meteorite in Arizona! Since then it is produced, but how fascinating to see that when fired in small quantities to 1250 C it remembers it's celestial origin and creates a Moon-like effect.
