This is a rather large painting by Jacques-Louis David depicting the Emperor Napoleon taking matters into his own hands to crown his Empress Josephine. [Normally, the Pope handled such affairs. Here, he is relegated to being a spectator!] Another copy of this hangs in the Louvre.
