"Reynolda House Museum of American Art displays a premiere collection of American art ranging from the colonial period to the present. Built in 1917 by Katharine Smith Reynolds and her husband R. J. Reynolds, founder of the R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company, the house originally occupied the center of a 1,067-acre (4.32 km2) estate. Kate Reynolds' "Reynolda" estate at Wake Forest University. The long, low slung "Bungalow" with deep eaves, is too large to capture in a single frame. Charles Barton Keen (1868-19310), of Philadelphia, was commissioned to site and design the main house, farm buildings, church and other dependencies on the assemblage of farms that Kate's husband, Richard Joshua Reynolds purchased for her, in her name in 1917.
