Thornham is on the north Norfolk coast, about four miles from Hunstanton. Among the salt marshes there is the remains of an ancient port (pictured), which was used - among other things - to unload coal brought down the coast from Newcastle. The North Sea is beyond the sand dunes in the distance. You can just make out one of the many offshore wind farms.

More than three-quarters of the wetlands in southeastern New Jersey is saltwater tidal marshes, which provide a critical habitat for commercially important species of fish and crabs, as well as for birds such as ospreys and bald eagles.

A Saltmarsh is a type of habitat characterized by having a large amount of water and very wet terrain. The main types of wetlands are swamps, marshes and bogs. Some examples of animals that live in the wetland habitat are otter, frog and many species of fish.
