Smorgastarta, Swedish Sandwich Cake is a beautiful savory cake it's the perfect appetieser for any event, made with layers of bread, cream cheese, smoked salmon and a beautiful egg salad. Decorating it's the most fun part and you can be creative choosing what and how you want the cake to look like. What I love about this cake is that you can choose different things to put on each layer of bread depending on your tastes.

This is a real treat of a recipe that brings me back to my childhood. A sandwich cake is a savoury cake often served at birthdays and festivities here in Sweden.

Smörgåstårta is one of my favorite things ever and is so underrepresented in Swedish food culture internationally. Everyone knows of meatballs, makes faces when trying herring, and raves over the candy but this perfect celebration food is never talked about. Many where I live never knew that it even was a thing.
