I don't give a shit if that US soldier got PTSD or anything, they joined the imperialist machine, murdered our people, destroyed our homes and left it in ruins. None of that will be brought back. They don't deserve any speck of pity.

So when are we gonna talk about how states keep their populations impoverished and undeserved while offering opportunity and security to sell their souls to the machine. Sometimes this is people's shot at a life they couldn't have without, and they literally have to be intensively hazed, psychologically broken, and accept their deaths before reaching any semblance of those promises, which often aren't carried out btw!

The idea that poor people choose to participate in military because it's their only chance simply isn't true—as a portion of recruits, the lowest quintile in terms of income make up the second-smallest pool for recruits, only after the particularly affluent. Most recruits come from what would be considered middle-to-upper-middle class backgrounds. This widely-spread misinformation is another kind of propaganda used to prop up the US war machine that isn't based in reality.

Right so we're still going with zero empathy because only 20% have that story. Shall we talk about others? Many also use it as a way to quickly get out of abusive homes. Let's also talk about the majority of people joining the military are VIRTUALLY CHILDREN. Lord knows when I was 18-22 I was NOT making sound decisions for myself or those around me. Like, let's be real and acknowledge our empire of a military is horrible but historically there's been a wall of disinformation that took active work and opportunities for knowledge to know the extent of harm and carnage it wages. And at that expecting young ass adults to know BEFORE they join to be worth your compassion... like let's be real.

when I was 18 I felt that murdering people for a living was probably not worth it for a full ride.

This person is just a all around whiner

I feel as if studio ghibli films being reduced to their 'cozyness' would be tragic if not for the fact that it is a deliberate branding thing for them. from the ghibli museum to the revolving door of hot topic collabs, miyazaki and/or the people he puts in charge of these things are aware of how desirable the worlds within ghibli films are. even at that, how meaningful is the politics of howl's moving castle being motivated by miyazaki's outrage at the 2003 iraq invasion when you examine it alongside the actual text of the wind rises? what does the environmentalism of ponyo mean when faced with the massive amounts of waste generated by ghibli merch you can get at wal mart? i'm straying from the point here but
