While the chronicles of Anne of Green Gables are fictional, its setting and even some of its stories are based on Lucy Maud Montgomery's real experiences throughout Prince Edward Island in Canada. Visitors are welcome to explore the historical properties that provided Montgomery with so much inspiration. I find it very interesting that the exterior sets for Road to Avonlea were constructed in Uxbridge, just a few kilometers from where L.M. Montgomery once lived in the Leaksdale Manse.
