Jo Calver / ISLA JAMES INTERIORS on Instagram: "THREE CRITICAL DESIGN DECISIONS for the country home project ⭐️ REMOVE WINDOWS - the architect placed two windows either side of the fireplace on the plans and while we promote connection to the garden and encourage natural light, the benefits of building the journey outweighed the benefits of the windows - particularly as the view 9 mths of the year would have been a pool cover! So we removed the windows and in their place built the joinery either side. ⭐️ CREATE A DOMINANT FIREPLACE ELEVATION - we replaced the entry door to this room in favour of a glass door so that even from the main entry hall you can see all the way through to the beautiful fireplace bringing the view into more parts of the home.
