The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared the outbreak of COVID-19 a public health emergen... more The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared the outbreak of COVID-19 a public health emergency of global concern. When this pandemic-potential virus arises, community-based prevention approaches are perhaps the most readily available measures to support and dissuade communities from spreading the virus. In this rapid review, I followed the Search, Appraisal, Synthesis, and Analysis (SALSA) approach and used the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines for an accurate evaluation of the content of literature in the system of non-pharmaceutical interventions (NPIs). As a result, 39 literature from a total of 315 searches were included in this study. Numerous NPIs were instantaneously introduced globally. Results indicated that physical distancing steps involve isolation of ill people, contact tracing, quarantine of exposed individuals, closures at school and in the workplace, and a combination of these approaches may be successful strategies to minimize infection transmission. Nevertheless, owing mainly to empirical and computer modeling research, the importance of such proof was comparatively small. Therefore, when designing a pandemic strategy, the authorities of local government units (LGUs) must recognize that each group is distinct and effective mitigation strategies will differ based on the level of community transmission, characteristics, implementation capacity, potential behavior and impacts, including most vulnerable populations to severe disease, and their socio-economic conditions. The introduction of mitigation measures is key to supporting community emergency plans. These plans will provide additional authority and coordination available for public health emergency response initiatives.

Innovation and the development of knowledge in the field of scientific research is increasing exp... more Innovation and the development of knowledge in the field of scientific research is increasing exponentially, but it continues to be disjointed. It makes it difficult to keep up with state-of-the-art and to be at the forefront of research and dissemination, as well as to evaluate empirical evidence in the area of academic excellence. Recent literature reviews are frequently lacking in thoroughness and rigor and are carried out in part rather than using a specific design. This descriptive-mapping review aimed to illustrate plagiarism and research integrity literature published over a 10-year period (2010 to 2020). To achieve this goal, literature reviews were conducted to obtain relevant articles and documentation on plagiarism and its potential impact in the academic and publishing industries. Methodical searches in specific databases such as Web of Science and Scopus, including the Google Scholar Search Engine, have been undertaken to ensure the accuracy of the results. Thereafter, descriptive mapping was used to categorize qualifying articles. Over 350 titles were collected from the searches, of which 129 complete works were published in various journals during the covered period. Finally, in this review, 35 papers were eligible for inclusion. The themes were enumerated in the scholarly articles. Findings revealed a dearth of scientifically credible and relevant literature on plagiarism issues, such as the phenomenon in the academic environment, its particular specific factors and triggering causes, and the impacts of the institutional policy interventions being enforced. Although the results provided background information for the creation of a realistic guide to avoid plagiarism incidences, robust empirical and evaluative studies should be planned to identify the real implications of preventing plagiarism to uphold the credibility of scientific research and evaluate the impact of ethical issues, practices, and policies suggested by organizations and industries.

Recently, the impact of smart technologies and artificial intelligence as mechanisms for blended ... more Recently, the impact of smart technologies and artificial intelligence as mechanisms for blended instruction in higher education institutions around the world has been of great interest. A cross-sectional design was used for this study. At a defined time, assumptions concerning the efficiency of a localized application of integrated smart technology and AI-mediated thesis and dissertation assessment during COVID-19 disaster came into play. The completed thesis and dissertation reports obtained by e-mail during March 2020 were first evaluated using the AI-tool to assess if the manuscript is ready for submission or requires minor or major revision. I have demonstrated how academic research mentors can contextualize and introduce a new e-mentoring approach. The AI-enhanced tool was highly effective in addition to being able to process initial evaluation in an average of 8 minutes per submission, with its special features and accurate enough to determine the accuracy of the language and references of a scientific study. Nonetheless, follow-up work can include plagiarism identification, abstract intelligence, journal scope checker and paper submission's technical compliance.

Research activities and research productivity have become very important for institutions of high... more Research activities and research productivity have become very important for institutions of higher education globally. Governments in different countries keep shaping their educational policies, including institutional research and procedures, constantly, which have triggered a series of external changes. These external changes together with some internal ones have made the educational institutions generate new styles of research management. This study has presented major factors negatively affecting scientific research and publications among professorial lecturers from various higher educational institutions in the Philippines. The major factors preventing faculty members from doing research and publications include lack of institutional support, lack of motivation/ lack of interest in writing or research, no solid foundation in research, heavy workload, low institutional prestige, issue in rank and tenure, fear of rejection, poor family background, and lack of mentoring. Thus, more resources must be allocated to provide capability-building training in research and scholarly writing, for de-loading of faculty for them to have more time for research and publication, for more funding for research and publication, and for improved incentives needed for research and publication. More linkages are needed between faculty members, institutions, and industries to make research more relevant to practice.

As Pope Benedict XVI says in "Gospel, Catechesis, catechism", "Do not presuppose the faith but propose it… faith is not maintained automatically. It is not "finished business" that we can simply take for granted. The life of faith has to be constantly renewed. And since faith is an act that comprehends all dimensions of our existence, it also requires constantly renewed reflections and witness. The study shows the difference between knowing about God and actually knowing God. To determine the Christian formation of students of Columban College, Inc. in Olongapo City as the basis for Faith enhancement. It utilized the descriptive design of research using college students coming from different programs as the respondents. The researcher used a survey-questionnaire to generate significant responses from the respondents. Christian Formation is more than handing on of religious instruction. Its goal is growth in faith, which implies both formation and transformation, leading one to live out the Gospel as part of a believing community. Christian formation is a lifelong process. Everyone, including the parents, the catechists, and Religion teachers has been always a learner. The Catholic School on the Threshold of the Third Millennium states that "At its heart, the identity of the Catholic School in its role in the evangelizing mission of the Church and directed to the complete formation of the students". Just knowing that you are not under any kind of stress is already a breath of fresh air. Every student goes through a very stressful time of their lives every time another academic year starts. A student's mental health is often frowned upon because adults say that all they do is sit around all day listening to their lectures. But in all honesty, being mentally tired is the worst feeling in the world. The purpose of this study is to provide an assessment of mental health issues and academic performance of senior high school students. The researcher used a survey-questionnaire on a five-point Likert scale that has been modified and adapted from several authorities in the field of Educational Psychology. The study shows that senior high school students have a positive mental health assessment in school, home, personal and health. Some inconsistencies in their response to the mental health assessment in school may be attributed to the needed enhancement of their difficulty in math and other major subjects. Thus, it is recommended that the curriculum must be enhanced, particularly that of the math and other minor subjects so that it will abreast to the interest of the students without sacrificing the curriculum prescribed by DepEd. Moreover, to re-visit the teaching strategies that will encourage students to enjoy learning.

Pesticide laws focused on school grounds/ fields are beginning to take shape around the world. A body of literature has examined the health implications of pesticides on school children, faculty and staff. However, little research has examined the impact of changing pesticide regulations on the grounds/field quality and expenses. The present study focused on the prevention and practices in a school relative to mold growth and pest control towards a healthier school environment. Thus, the result was significant at p < .05. This means the null hypothesis was rejected relative to the mold growth prevention practices. Moreover, a t-value of 1.18292, with the p-value of .135401, resulted in the acceptance of the null hypothesis at p < .05. Thus, there were no significant differences in the assessment of pest management control practices. The most important strategy is communication and cooperation among school officials, teachers, staff, custodians, and parents. How people use and manage a school determines the pest problems that will occur. Regular inspections and monitoring to detect molds and pests before they become a problem, making it easier to manage them in less toxic ways. Inspections, information on the molds and pest's life cycle, setting action thresholds, and information on how the school facility is used to determine when and what action is taken. By adopting a cautious approach, schools can reduce or even eliminate the risks associated with pesticides altogether using simple, low-cost methods, thereby practicing sensible steps towards a healthier school environment.

CA is the fear or anxiety associated with real or anticipated communication with others. This study investigated the main factors that lead to CA in the first-year college students in a teacher education institution and suggested some solutions to cope with the students' CA and improve their communication abilities. The participants of the study were the 17 first-year college students in a teacher education institution, who were officially enrolled in the English subject. The data on the students' level of oral CA were gathered using the McCroskey's Personal Report of Communication Apprehension (PRCA-24). Findings divulged that first-year college students demonstrate varying degrees of levels of oral CAs. This study could provide a basis for language professor to deem speaking actions that could be best offered to students who are challenged with oral communication apprehensions. Moreover, this could help students to scrutinize their oral communication apprehensions and find ways to address and surmount it. It cannot be denied and overlooked that English is the most universal language spoken everywhere. In most countries, a top priority is given to English expertise and English language education for individual career or interests, as well as national improvement and globalization.

Employee turnover is harmful and it affects efficiency, productivity, profitability, and innovati... more Employee turnover is harmful and it affects efficiency, productivity, profitability, and innovativeness when it occurs in the workplace. One way to understand turnover is by explaining the difference between Push and Pull factors. "Push" factors cause individuals to look for another job, just like dissatisfaction with the working environments. This study aimed to investigate the factors causing the employee exiting in one private school. Specifically, it identified the underlying factors leading to turnover and spelled out what could be done to retain staff members in the academe. It utilized a qualitative explanatory type of case study design, confined to one private institution of higher learning, and comprised of twenty-two (22) from various departments, who left (resigned from) the institution in 2019. Thus, there was no sampling technique used. A hallmark of case study research is the use of multiple data sources, a strategy which also enhanced data credibility. Potential data sources for this study included documentation, archival records, interviews, physical artifacts, and direct observations. Several reasons for leaving the institution were classified into three major stimulating factors such as organizational/ institutional, personal and psycho-social, and both as cause and effect relationship factors. The implications for practice were significant and the solutions offered will strengthen the internal operations for institutions. Management should initiate further programs to understand why employees quit the organization and identify the issues that attract and retain them in organizations. Job satisfaction is the key determinant of turnover intention. Hence, if sound strategies are to be applied, there is a possibility that private institutions continue to exist in a vibrant environment by taking into account their workforce as a vital resource.

This study described the quality of instruction in a graduate school through performance evaluation based on the performance standards such as professional performance, instructional procedures and techniques, and evaluation and grading, and the corresponding indicators for each standard adopted and accepted by the professors, and determined their training needs for the continuing professional development. The researcher utilized descriptive research, specifically cross-sectional and evaluative designs. Generally, the findings revealed that the professors had a very satisfactory professional performance, and outstanding in instructional procedures and techniques, and evaluation and grading. However, a specific indicator related to research was identified as their weakness. Thus, sustainable and unceasing training and development through further studies, research engagement, publications, and sharing of knowledge or expertise with other institutions, agencies, and the community should be given due attention by the school administration.

Getting your research paper published can be a satisfying and rewarding experience, but it requires diligence and perseverance and can be just as difficult as the research itself. This paper provides facts in transfiguring research outputs for possible presentations and publications in an international journal. It was presented in the various local and international conferences organized by the educational research associations and learned societies. It focused primarily on the basic principles and guidelines for writing a publishable research article for journal publication. It provided guidelines in writing the abstract and keywords, and the Introduction, Methodology, and Results and Discussion (IMRaD), as well as suggestions in writing conclusions and recommendations for future research.

Surprisingly, almost all organizations strive day in and out to assist their employees, especially the frontline staff, to learn how to communicate effectively. They even institute coaching or develop training and development programs on how to continuously improve their communication with fellow workers, department heads and clienteles. The main objective of this study was to determine the effectiveness of the communication network of Columban College, Inc. in Olongapo City, Philippines. It utilized the descriptive design of research using all the frontline staff as the respondents. The researcher used a survey-questionnaire to generate relevant responses from the respondents, while observations and interviews were conducted to offer supplementary resources. Coordination/ Knowledge sharing, the effectiveness of communication and reliability revealed very strong agreement among the communication dimensions, while strong agreement on communication flow, barriers to effective communication, timeliness and media effectiveness was disclosed. On communicating company news and updates, the communication tools were generally rated as somewhat effective, whereas very effective for communicating information.

This study was focused on the assessment on local governance of the barangays of Olongapo city as viewed by the barangay council members including the barangay secretaries and the barangay treasurer based on accountability, direction, fairness, legitimacy and voice, and performance. It utilized the descriptive type of research. The data gathered were recorded, tabulated, and analyzed by means of Percentage, Mean and ANOVA. The findings revealed that the public officials in a metropolitan setting, regardless of age, gender, educational attainment, and civil status as well as population size, they are serving, they are visionary leaders. It means, they are in providing strategic directions to their constituents. They have strategic vision to the community. Moreover, they always have in mind, the principle of good governance being accountable and transparent in every transactions in the government service. Thus, fairness as evidenced by equity, and rule of law, is excellently portrayed and provided among constituents. The presence of congruency in governing the various barangays in the metropolitan area, still needs some enrichments in areas of performance to include responsiveness, effectiveness and efficiency, and legitimacy and voice such as on participation, consensus orientation.

Continuing professional development (CPD), before known as continuing professional educat... more Continuing professional development (CPD), before known as continuing professional education (CPE), is described as lifelong education of professionals on specialized knowledge, skills, attitude and ethical and moral values after the initial registration and admission to the profession. This study aimed to assess continuing professional development (CPD) activities and its perceived impact on public elementary school teachers in a school district in Zambales. The researchers used descriptive cross-sectional and correlational designs with the aid of a survey - questionnaire, informal interview, and observation. The entire population of elementary teachers in a district was chosen to participate in the study. From a total of 222 teachers, the study revealed that the majority of them have earned limited units of CPD and have an insufficient engagement in certain CPD activities. It was statistically presented that the attendance of CPD activities is significantly dependent on career development, enhancement of personal competencies, improving teaching and learning process and improving learner outcomes. Thus, the school heads should empower teachers’ engagement in CPD activities, particularly the young professionals through regular monitoring. Thus, the intervention plan may include activities on creating an automated monitoring system for CPD units earned; school visitation for promotion by CPD providers; CPD activity- survey; annual action research writing; and reward for highest CPD credit unit’s earner.

It posits that individual behavior is driven by behavior intentions, where behavior intentions are a function of three determinants: an individual’s attitude toward behavior, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control. This study aimed to describe the retirement planning behavior and the psychological factors associated with, of the college faculty members, who were due for retirement within the next ten (10) years. It was hypothesized that the demographic and psychological variables do not significantly associate with the retirement planning behavior of the respondents. The respondents moderately agreed that they have actually prepared themselves for retirement, but they expected that their pension would not be enough and that God would provide, while they agreed strongly that they have prepared for a productive life and a decent standard of living upon retirement. The demographic variables did not show significant variations with the retirement planning behavior. The respondents highly agreed on the clarity of their goals for retirement. Yet, the clarity of their goals for retirement, and foreseen obstacles found no direct association with retirement planning behavior, while the attitude towards retirement was found to have a significant and positive association with retirement planning behavior. Thus, a more responsive retirement program be implemented to include a retirement savings investment program. Retirement planning training is conducted to have an annual program and action plans prior to retirement.

The laity ought to provide helpful collaboration for every apostolic and missionary undertaking sponsored by their local parish” (AA, 10). This is manifested in the growing number of the lay apostolate in many nations for the past centuries. They have grouped themselves, formed associations and performed missions that yielded significant contribution in the missionary work of the church. Among the many organizations that received recommendations and recognition, from popes and bishops are the Apostleship of Prayer, Catholic Women’s League and the Holy Name Society. The purpose of this study is to provide an assessment of their commitment to the mission and purpose of the organization in the parishes of St. Joseph Vicariate. The researcher used the researcher-designed survey on a four-point Likert scale that has been modified and adapted from several authorities in the field of Education. The study shows that the members of the organization are committed to their respective mission and purpose as an organization. Some inconsistencies in their response to the purpose and mission may be attributed to the needed enhancement of the formation program of the organization. Cardinal Arinze pointed out that the activity of the laity is so necessary to help fulfill the role of the pastors that they ought to be strengthened and nourished especially in their spiritual life (2016).

This study was conducted to gather empirical data relative to graduate school students’ satisfaction level, strengths of the other resources and services, as well as the opportunities for improvement. The researchers used the descriptive crosssectional design with the aid of survey-questionnaire and document analysis. The graduating students during the Academic Year 2018-2019 were considered as participants. The instrument was administered through a face-to-face invitation, from February to March 2019. There was a high degree of agreement and satisfaction in the other resources and services as KRA. The graduate school has sufficient rooms for a lecture, oral defense and comprehensive examinations, space for faculty to meet their instructional and research needs, and a consultation room. Mimeographing and photocopying facilities are readily available. There were consultants/staff who were experts in statistics, and planning and preparation of instructional materials, spiritual adviser, and coordinator of the outreach programs, and technical personnel. A functional academic advising system from start until completion of the graduate program was highly evident, as well as the availability of auxiliary services (guidance, dental, medical, religious) for students. Moreover, the strengths were fully sustained and the opportunities for improvement were fully complied with. However, there was a need to strengthen the following services: (1) The classrooms which are free from noise; (2) Computer services which are always available with internet for easy website access; (3) A sufficient school maintenance and security personnel; (4) Canteen that serves nutritious, safe, well-balanced and reasonably priced meals. The result of the study could be translated through a journal article for As a service organization, HEIs are dealing with the same situation which places greater emphasis on meeting the expectations and needs of their customers (Sapri & Finch, 2009). As a matter of fact, education is considered as a service, which is an important source of revenue for many countries with developing economies. Therefore, the competition among educational institutions to attract foreign and domestic students become more and more competitive (Truong, Pham, & Vo, 2016) Unfortunately, both of these trends are not temporary. We need to improve student performance if our students, and we as a nation, are to compete successfully in the 21st-century global economy. Financially, schools will receive some temporary assistance with the stimulus package, but this will provide only modest and temporary relief. Therefore, schools must take the responsibility to find new and innovative ways to improve student performance with increasingly fewer resources. As we at the International Center continue to look at schools throughout the nation, we have found some great examples of how schools have done just that. To help evaluate how these and other schools have done at both improving student performance and reducing costs, we created the Effectiveness and Efficiency Framework (Daggett & Ed, n.d.). Physical environment and other resources and services refer to the physical characteristics of the room. international publications, to revisit the institutional support services for continuous improvement of the graduate program.

The study attempted to focus on the general readiness of the practicum teachers and determine their most common fears in the actual fields. The descriptive survey design was used in this study and the gathering of data was done primarily in the College of Education of a prestigious institution. A total of 69 pre-service teachers was used in this study. This study employed a quantitative method that included a self-rated survey from the portfolio of PTs for three consecutive Academic Years (2016-2019). The data were tabulated, analyzed and interpreted using the weighted mean and the chart presentation. It was found out that Factor E (Dealing with complex Issues) is the highest fears of practicum teachers in the last two consecutive academic years. These issues concern about (1) special needs of students, (2) mixed ability classes and (3) evaluation of student performance. This is an indication that the practicum teachers are aware of how highly urbanized the city and such has a great effect on their students. This diverse setting poses a challenge to the teacher education program. The greatest fear is more on dealing with complex issues, specifically the special needs of the students due to the reality of the diverse settings. The Teacher Education Institute must face the growing complexities of preparing teachers that can successfully teach the diverse needs of the students in various settings. The study arrived at a proposed program and assessment that can be implemented to promote sustained mentorship and assessment of graduates beyond the completion of a teacher education program.

Use of strategic questioning as the formative assessment is one of the strategies that advocates ... more Use of strategic questioning as the formative assessment is one of the strategies that advocates the improvement of learners’ performance in Mathematics. The study assessed the contribution of strategic questioning to the improvement and development of the foundation of knowledge of learners to come up with improved performance and developed a plan of strategic questioning. The experimental evaluation design-posttest only was used with Posttest for both control and experimental groups. The experimental groups were exposed to the treatment. Data gathered through a checklist and plan for strategic questioning were developed. Two hundred twenty-five students under the researcher were randomly selected as control and experimental groups. Data were statistically treated with percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, and p-test. It was found out that there was a significant difference between the performance of students in the controlled and experimental groups after instruction/intervention. This meant that strategic questioning as formative assessment contributes to the effective performance of the learners in mathematics. It can be inferred further that categorizing questioning to the lower level and higher level can really increase the learners’ performance in math. The research revealed then that using contextualized problems/lessons as one form of strategic questioning in every quarter contributed to improving the learners’ competence in solving math problems.
