Autopatrol given

Hello. I just wanted to let you know that I have granted autopatrol rights to your account; the reason for this is that I believe you are sufficiently trustworthy and experienced to have your contributions automatically marked as "reviewed". This has no effect on your editing, it is simply intended to make it easier for users that are monitoring Recent changes or Recent uploads to find unproductive edits amidst the productive ones like yours. In addition, the Flickr upload feature and an increased number of batch-uploads in UploadWizard, uploading of freely licensed MP3 files, overwriting files uploaded by others and an increased limit for page renames per minute are now available to you. Thank you. --Jean-Fred (talk) 10:45, 21 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Commons:Upload help

It was not too helpful to add a "live" unclosed <pre> tag in the middle of that page... AnonMoos (talk) 13:48, 22 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Argh. I'm very sorry. :-( --AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 14:38, 22 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Thank you

for reading the Village Pump and the Forum and looking for possible bugs. This is very nice, appreciated and it is important after each software update; especially since Commons is usually the first big wiki where a new MW version is deployed and the guys who developed the software don't care a lot for Commons like en:User:Anomie (claiming Commons is full of boneheaded users!), User:Bryan and User:Brion VIBBER ignoring any enquiry or User:Siebrand where you'll only get sporadically replies. Once, I started here I spent 0% of my time for hunting bugs, now it takes 60% of my time. I hope you'll stay longer at the WMF than the former bugmeister did. Good luck. -- Rillke(q?) 15:15, 29 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Thanks Rillke, appreciated! I've tried to document checking Village Pumps and Forums so a future bugwrangler (or anybody else) can see what are (supposed to be) good practices. Part of your thanks also goes to RobLa and Sumana for telling me that I can and should spend more time outside of Bugzilla to track down Wikimedia problems. With regard to communication with others, I don't know the background or the tone in past situations you have experienced, which are always left to each individual's interpretation ("Assume people mean well" is my personal rule of thumb). With the disclaimer that manpower is limited and that priorities might differ: If you have specific issues (bug reports) in mind that deserve more attention, feel free to contact me! Again, thanks for your help to make MediaWiki and Wikimedia better (e.g. via bug reports), even if it takes some patience sometimes. --AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 15:58, 30 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
