upgrade to use lua

[edit]

I upgraded this template to use the same lua code as {{Artwork}} and {{Art photo}}. Please report any issues here and I will fix them. --Jarekt (talk) 03:50, 4 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Jarekt, there appears to be a redundant newline after the template now. It's visible e.g. here. This doesn't occur for artwork template, e.g. here. 2001:7D0:81F7:B580:1841:7B22:A212:5282 10:14, 14 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, Jarekt! The extra newline is still there. See for example File:Vuoksenniskan entinen kansakoulu Imatralla 2011.jpg with information template and with photograph template. I know there’s a newline between the summary and licensing sections, too, but usually that’s permitted, so it looks like the extra one is coming from the template/module code. –Kooma (talk) 09:57, 26 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Kooma, I did a little test below with artwork, photograph and information templates and I do not see any difference. --Jarekt (talk) 02:07, 27 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Jarekt: Because you didn’t add empty lines before the headings (which are common, and even enforced by MediaWiki if you use section editing to edit the description). I’ve now added them in the below example, and the extra blank lines indeed appeared after {{Artwork}} and {{Photograph}}, but not after {{Information}}. —Tacsipacsi (talk) 08:12, 27 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Kooma and Tacsipacsi: sorry I kind of dropped of from this discussion. I removed a new-line after the {{Artwork}} template. There is no good way to predict if it will cause any layout issues. If it does than I might need to put it back. --Jarekt (talk) 19:58, 6 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Multiple depicted people

[edit]

The documentation says to slice up the depicted people with forward slashes. This doesn't seem to be working at File:Nadia Zerouali and Merijn Tol - 2018.jpg Vera (talk) 09:16, 19 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

now the documentation says nothing at all about how to list multiple people. I think the template should change to support the way it was described previously because it makes no sense that the template is OK with receiving one q-ID but can't handle multiples. Vera (talk) 08:36, 20 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Template can take bulleted list, but than you have to add {{label|...}} or {{Q-|..}} yourself. That seems to me simple enough and that is how we do it if we had no wikidata. --Jarekt (talk) 03:24, 21 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
we do have Wikidata and adding another layer of templates only when there is more than one person isn't simple or straightforward. Vera (talk) 09:08, 21 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

depicted place linking

[edit]

How does that work? Here "depicted place = Brunnen" links to Category:Brunnen (which disambiguates). Is there a way to fix this without editing dozens of photos. Enhancing999 (talk) 10:05, 13 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I don’t know how it works, but there’s certainly no way to save those dozens of edits: how would the template be able to decide what you mean when you write Brunnen: the Bavarian municipality, the Swiss resort or the monastery in NRW? (However, it may be possible to do those edits with a bot.) —Tacsipacsi (talk) 21:38, 13 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The category is marked as a disambiguation category. Also, one could add a list of names that shouldn't link. "Brunnen" isn't the only case where it's a problem. Enhancing999 (talk) 06:59, 14 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I suggest adding integration of this template like in the the default information template, otherwise it looks line here. Unfortunaly I have no clue how to. TheImaCow (talk) 21:13, 19 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

{{Information}} adds the CSS class commons-file-information-table, that should be added here as well. —Tacsipacsi (talk) 22:04, 20 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Listing multiple inscriptions

[edit]

I listed several inscriptions on File:Elsie Curtin 1937.jpg, but they're hard to tell apart; one naturally sees the built-in dividers as separating the inscriptions, when in fact they're separating the component parts of each inscription. Numbered and unnumbered lists aren't much good, as they create unnecessary indentations. Is there a way to clean this up, like a darker verson of ----? Nicknimh (talk) 03:36, 31 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
