The RfC has been open for a bit over a month, and the discussion's subject affects a large number of images on Commons. Uninvolved closure that can summarize the result of the discussion is requested. — Red-tailed hawk (nest) 16:42, 16 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Bug in the bot User:WLKBot operated by me. Rollback of changes requested

There is a bug in the bot User:WLKBot, operated by me User:Kim Bach, when bulk moving images between categories.

The bot has made a substantial number of edits that should be rolled back.

So I'm requesting a rollback of all changes that were made by User:WLKBot since October 1st 2024.

Tool: User:WLKBot

Languages: English Kim Bach (talk) 11:10, 19 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Is there a tool that can perform such mass reverting easily with one click? I can't find any oldid=941295377 bad edits at first glance. Taylor 49 (talk) 16:48, 22 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Sisterprojects

Please correct the links in Template:Sisterprojects, some of them are incorrect. Chrumps (talk) 20:27, 20 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Can you be bit more specific? Which wiki/language should point where?
 ∞∞ Enhancing999 (talk) 20:39, 20 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
For example: https://www.wikifunctions.org/wiki/Wikifunctions:Main_Page/de or https://en.wikiversity.org/wiki/pl:. Chrumps (talk) 20:51, 20 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Any suggestions where they should point? Links need to be fixed by an admin at Template:Sisterprojects layout.
 ∞∞ Enhancing999 (talk) 21:07, 20 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
There is a discussion about Wikifunctions at Template_talk:Sisterprojects_layout#Broken_Wikifunctions_link
 ∞∞ Enhancing999 (talk) 21:16, 20 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, but links https://www.wikifunctions.org and https://www.wikiversity.org should work fine for all languages without an additional subpage or parameter. Chrumps (talk) 21:21, 20 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Unfortunately only for logged in users to their own language, of course, but it's still better than a broken link. Chrumps (talk) 21:25, 20 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Does this qualify as "Recreation of content previously deleted per community consensus"?

File:GID Landspout.jpg was deleted on October 17 as an image sourced from a US government website where even the agency that published it did not know who took the photo.

Two days later, a user uploaded a screenshot of the web page that hosts the photo as File:NWS_Hastings_Tornadoes_Picture_1_Webpage.jpg. I've opened a deletion request. Given the minimalist and unremarkable nature of the rest of the page, I don't see what purpose a screenshot of the page design serves or why that purpose couldn't be served by blacking out the photo of unknown provenance (or simply choosing another page with only unambiguously free elements).

I'm quite happy to wait for the deletion process to run its course, but for future reference, my question here is whether images like this could/should have just been G4'ed instead? (But note the uploader's rationale in the current DR)

@Berdea: All done, I believe, but please check. - Jmabel ! talk 01:15, 23 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I have detected only one error (see below) :

Wikimedia logos : one file to correct

@Jmabel: Thank you for your help and for your speed. I would allow myself to come back to this page if I had other modifications to make. This work of categorization is quite tedious, but I think this work of storage is useful. --Berdea (talk) 10:47, 23 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

No thumbnail

I don't understand what's going on. If you look at this file https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Congo_location_map.svg, you will see, in the history file section, a lot of thumbnail issues. If you click on the lines with no thumbnail (in the date/time or thumbnail column), the file is ok but not the thumbnails. Why my uploads don't work ? Is it an issue with my account ? my network ? Could you help me please ? Yunan973 (talk) 13:07, 22 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The SVG files you uploaded have invalid namespace declarations. For example, when I try to display one of those thumbnails in my browser, my browser complains
This page contains the following errors:
error on line 3 at column 677: xmlns:ns: '&ns_sfw;' is not a valid URI
Below is a rendering of the page up to the first error.
The relevant SVG is
<svg
   version="1.1"
   viewBox="0 0 851.256 914.719"
   xmlns:svg="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg"
   xmlns:ns="&amp;#38;#38;#38;#38;#38;#38;#38;#38;#38;#38;#38;ns_sfw;"
   xmlns:i="&amp;#38;#38;#38;#38;#38;#38;#38;#38;#38;#38;#38;ns_ai;">
This is a common problem with tools failing to properly expand XML entities. Adobe illustrator will use an entity to define namespaces; for example, xmlns:i="&ns_ai;". Instead of expanding the ns_ai entity, the tool just quotes the ampersand and does some other nonsense (#38; is also an ampersand).
The working files have a DTD that declares the entities:
<!DOCTYPE svg PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD SVG 1.1//EN" "http://www.w3.org/Graphics/SVG/1.1/DTD/svg11.dtd" [
	<!ENTITY ns_extend "http://ns.adobe.com/Extensibility/1.0/">
	<!ENTITY ns_ai "http://ns.adobe.com/AdobeIllustrator/10.0/">
	<!ENTITY ns_graphs "http://ns.adobe.com/Graphs/1.0/">
	<!ENTITY ns_vars "http://ns.adobe.com/Variables/1.0/">
	<!ENTITY ns_imrep "http://ns.adobe.com/ImageReplacement/1.0/">
	<!ENTITY ns_sfw "http://ns.adobe.com/SaveForWeb/1.0/">
	<!ENTITY ns_custom "http://ns.adobe.com/GenericCustomNamespace/1.0/">
	<!ENTITY ns_adobe_xpath "http://ns.adobe.com/XPath/1.0/">
]>

Hello, I have found a template from Wikipedia (nl/en) that I would like to import to Commons (w:en:Template:Stacked bar). I have created the corresponding CSS file under Template:Stacked bar/style.css, but unfortunately I get an error message: «must have content model "Sanitized CSS" for TemplateStyles (current model is "CSS")». According to my research (mw:Extension:TemplateStyles), the problem is probably due to the fact that the content model of the page has not yet been changed to "Sanitized CSS". As I cannot make this change myself, I would like to ask you to set the content model of the page Template:Stacked bar/style.css to Sanitized CSS using Special:ChangeContentModel, so that the transfer of the template can continue. Аныл Эзташ (talk) 13:29, 22 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@A. Öztas: I changed it to Sanitised CSS. It appears you also misspelt "styles.css" as "style.css", which I have corrected. I have also imported the template from enwiki for you. If you need any more help, please let me know. —Matrix(!) ping onewhen replying {user - talk? - uselesscontributions} 15:39, 22 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Upload of KI-generated fake images by User:Freja Nygaard

Hi, Freja Nygaard has uploaded three obviously KI-generrated images here, which he falsley declared to be oil-canvass paintings from "the scandinavian royal collection". We have removed the pictures from the german articles and I've blocked him there. The question now is, what to do with the files on commons. As a de.wp-admin I don't know enough about your rules on commons regarding fake and false described images, but I kindly ask You, to have a look at this problem. Thanks in advance.
