The ancient Indian kingdoms are the kingdoms that are mentioned in ancient Indian literature, which includes the Vedas, the Mahabharata, the Ramayana, and the Puranas. All these kingdoms are located in the Indian Sub-Continent, comprising the modern-day countries India, Pakistan, Afganistan, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka. Some of the kingdoms are also partly in neighbouring countries China, Iran, and the central Asian republics Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Kazakhstan.
