English: Greasy poles or grease poles are poles covered in grease or another slippery material. They are meant to be climbed, traversed or simply stayed upon by contestants of a greasy pole game. They are can be horizontal, vertical or sloped and may have distance markers or prizes placed at the far end. Maypoles are traditional decorated poles that may sometimes be used as greased poles as well.
