This file was transferred from lb-Wikipedia here on commons. Initially lb:User:Cornischong found it on en-Wikipedia and uploaded it on 23 January 2006 13:45 to lb-wikipedia as you may see on lb:Fichier:Italien_Manarola.jpg#filehistory the source file used was already deleted on en-wikipedia 29. - I uploaded the image here after the photographer contacted me letting me know that it had been uploaded to Flickr with the proper license. The image was originally intended for professional use (publicity, etc), but the photographer has decided to release the license for custom cropped, specifically resized versions of their work for the purposes of Wikipedia/Wikimedia. I've just spent the last two days explaining Commons guidelines and licensing to them, advising them to carefully select images that have never been previously published and/or distributed on the internet, etc. I also advised on size dimensions that would be large enough for the purposes of Wikipedia/Wikimedia, while still small enough that others would be highly unlikely to profit. I'm assuming this is why the Flickr bot didn't read the file as a "match" since I simply uploaded the file I already had on my desktop, rather than downloading the file again from Flickr and uploading that, but I believe the size, dimensions, resolution, etc, should all be exactly the same. --- Crakkerjakk (talk) 11:16, 20 May 2013 (UTC)

- The photographer indicated that they preferred not to be credited by name, but instead as "Talent Access." They worked within the entertainment industry for 30+ years as a photographer/publicist and were always credited as "Talent Access" in this capacity, which was their reason for choosing to do so in this instance as well. I'd seen numerous photographers who'd opted not to use their names on Flickr and whose images had been successfully transferred to Commons, so I told them that I didn't think that would present any problems. This individual is the copyright holder of a vast archive (I've seen some of it) and they've indicated that they would be willing to provide files of other entertainment personalities whose pages could also use images (albeit the same size and resolution as these), so it would be a real loss if their work was disallowed as a result of a thoughtless upload mistake on my part. In fact, you can see in the edit history of these two files that I was the one who added the {{flickrreview}} template upon uploading (which I always do when transferring from Flickr). Definitely not something I would have done if I was trying to pull a fast one, or if I had any doubts whatsoever about the ownership of said images. --- Crakkerjakk (talk) 12:45, 20 May 2013 (UTC)

- Thanks. I've been kicking myself all morning thinking I'd completely botched the whole thing. This photographer originally brought up the idea of supplying a few images to Wikipedia a few months ago (he originally expressed a willingness to grant Wikipedia exclusive "permission", which I had to explain was unacceptable for BLPs, etc). At that time I did go over several options with him, including creating his own Commons account, creating a Flickr account, and the OTRS ticket process. This individual is now elderly, so we arrived at the decision that Flickr would be the easiest way to proceed and I could handle the transfer from there (anyone who has tried to explain the internet to their grandparents might have an idea what I mean). This individual is understandably guarded about the licenses of their images, so they've indicated that they'll most likely not be willing to provide images of any current stars, but they have decided (somewhat cautiously) to supply 300x400 files of some former child stars whose articles would otherwise never have images (at least not until the copyrights expire). --- Crakkerjakk (talk) 14:28, 20 May 2013 (UTC)

Comment This image has been published under a free license on flickr. There is no need for asking for a permission that allows a transfer to Commons. Generally Creative Commons licenses are irrevocable that means once published under this license, it may be available under it for all time. Clear copyright violation: Contributor claims this logo would be his own work and contributed under CC Attribution-Share Alike 3.0 Unported license. However, the Google logo is certainly not the contributor's own work, and it is copyrighted by Google. Fixing the license is impossible since the Google logo is copyrighted by Google and the "fair use" rationale is incompatible with Common's licensing terms. - Delete. While my German is nicht gut, it's pretty clear that this is only free for private and internal business purposes ("private und firmeninterne Zwecke"). Files on Commons must be free for any use. Public distribution is only permitted for {{Noncommercial}} ("unentgeltlich") purposes, which is not an acceptable restriction for Commons. —LX (talk, contribs) 20:02, 20 May 2013 (UTC)

- Comment The copyright notice is kind of copyfraud since the map was published by the Reichsamt für Landesaufnahme during the 1930s although the Bundesamt für Kartographie und Geodäsie is the legal successor of the former. A scan of the original map is provided by the Universität Greifswald, see linked page, according to the Uni Greifswald the map was originally published 1937. Hence it or a scan/reporduction of it cannot be copyrighted by the BKG in the year 2010. As topographers of the map the Uni Greifswald scan gives the names Flügge, Adolf Haase, and Damuß and as corrector Linke. So § 134 in DE:WP does not apply because of the lack of anonymity. As the creator of this file I would like for it to be deleted as soon as possible. I have replaced it with another image with all of the above described advantages. The JPEG file is currently a pointless waste of space. The sooner we delete it, the better. [edit]After today identifying around 25 uploads as copyvio (grabbed from different flickr-accounts, blogs, airliners.net etc., example: File:Gumair-Cessna U206G Stationair6 PZ-TBD airborne.jpg = grabbed from http://www.flickr.com/photos/59783485@N04/6386125911), totalizing now +/- 50 uploads deleted as copyvio, it´s difficult to believe that these following files would be own work: IMHO untrusted user uploading a bunch of copyrighted material (small/inconsistent resolutions, missing exif) so these ones (per COM:PRP) can't be believed either. Additional info: File:SAF-001 Suriname.jpg previously circulating via http://latinairforces.blogspot.de/2007/12/surinam-air-force.html (2007). File:CaricomSLM CommuterIslander.jpg previously circulating (even with blurry res and cropped) via http://www.dbsuriname.com/dbsuriname/index.php/slm-vliegt-weer-naar-binnenland/ (= .jpg, last modified: 16.03.2013). Obs.: Nominated are only those files without exif. There are still 8 files taken with a "Canon EOS 350D DIGITAL" for which I presume (assuming an extra large portion of good faith) "real own work".

Clear copyright violation: Contributor claims this logo would be his own work and contributed under CC Attribution-Share Alike 3.0 Unported license. However, the Google logo is certainly not the contributor's own work, and it is copyrighted by Google. Fixing the license is impossible since the Google logo is copyrighted by Google and the "fair use" rational is incompatible with Common's licensing terms. Russian czar en:Nicholas II ruled 1893–1917 and died 1918. These photos seem contemporary ones. But the uploader claims, that they are all his own work. I do not believe that. - This is only the beginning of what will probably be numerous mass DRs. I'm keeping the list short so they can easily be reviewed and decided upon. The Syria-over-Africa one is indeed odd, especially considering that it's uploader tried to get a similar map with the flag of Egypt deleted no that long ago, which I have renominated just below it. The Falangist Spain one, I don't think has a useful scope. True it has historical context, but I don't see the need for maps of countries with the flags of their political parties over them. The third one you list, humourous as it may be, really isn't in scope. There is a similar one with the US flag over the entire world, I plan to nominate that one as well in good time. I see the scope of the "flag maps project" to mainly consist of countries with their national flag. Political party flags, naval ensigns and the such really are superfluous. The other one could express the same with respect to Canada as the "51st state". - The only fictional coat of arms image that I was first uploader on was File:Coat-of-arms-of-user-AnonMoos.svg, which is extremely clearly labelled as such, and acceptable according to Commons policies -- though I have touched up some fictional coats of arms images originally first uploaded by others (obviously including File:Proposed coat of arms of the Free Syrian Republic.png). I've been the first uploader on about half-a-dozen useful Arab national emblem images such as File:Coat of arms of United Arab Republic (Syria 1958-61, Egypt 1958-1971).svg, and on additional national emblem images for Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Upper Volta, etc. AnonMoos (talk) 01:13, 25 May 2013 (UTC)

- I'm sure that you're well-intentioned in your own mind, but your graphic seems to be extremely out of touch with reality, because Assad is having difficulty holding on in Syria, yet you want him to rule over the Congo! In the early Arab Caliphates period of history, there were 5 or 6 great cities which were centers of Arab rule (Medina, Damascus, Kairouan, Fustat then Cairo, Kufa then Baghdad, etc.) and traditionally Bilad-ush-Sham or "greater Syria" means the sphere of influence of Damascus. To the nominator: Could you remind us again what you mean by an image having "no scope"? Do you mean that the images are "not in scope" for this project? —Psychonaut (talk) 08:58, 27 May 2013 (UTC)
- No scope and not in scope are the same thing. They have no reasonable expectation of use, lack proper context, and in some cases are anachronistic and odd. They don't belong here. The flag maps project requested images of countries and some subdivisions with their respective flag on it. Naval ensigns, party flags, terrorist organisation flags are all out of that context. We do not need flag maps of "everything and anything", we need flag maps that have an expectation of context and use. Fry1989 eh? 17:23, 27 May 2013 (UTC)
