I want to try to develop a campaign that makes book scan uploads for Wikisource more easy. I'm a experienced wikimedian and a former Commons sysop (2006-2010), so I'll not crash the system (or at least not definitely xD). Thank you. Lugusto 18:24, 17 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

General request

[edit]

There seem to be quite some users with this rights who haven't used them ever, don't seem to be going to use them in the (near) future or haven't used these rights in the recent past. It seems to me that if a user does not intent to work on campaigns in the near future (like a year) for a project it isn't a good idea to keep the rights. Therefore it would seem a good idea to me to ask all users with these rights whether they intend to use them for any projects in the near future, and if not remove the rights. As I'm not planning on doing any project in the near future with upload campaigns I think it would be best to remove my rights per this reasoning. If I have any project for which I need the rights I can simply request them again. Mvg, Basvb (talk) 16:43, 18 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe you can list upwizcampeditors who has not used the tool, so we can ask them if they still need the tool, and decide what to do (remove or not.). —레비Revi 17:20, 20 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Looking at this for each user will tell something about activity. Mvg, Basvb (talk) 16:03, 26 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Pleas notify all affected user about this request. --Steinsplitter (talk) 16:15, 26 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I wasn't really planning on actively engaging in trying to get the rights removed, my intentions were to point out a possible issue with unused extra possibilities. As you might have noticed I'm not really involved at commons (bursts of activity around some of the project I work with). So I thought it would be more fit if this is something the active community decided on/pursued, also some more opinions on this matter would seem as a good idea to me. Mvg, Basvb (talk) 00:04, 27 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I've done a little count. From the 36 users who have these rights 29 have never used them (at least not in the current system throught the seperate namespace). From the 7 who have used the rights only 2 did so this year. I think it might be a good idea to ask the 29 who haven't used the right whether they have any plans. Mvg, Basvb (talk) 00:12, 27 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Notified using MassMessage. 555 was exempted because I granted his userright week ago. —레비Revi 02:56, 27 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure how I got this userright, so feel free to remove it from my account. Harej (talk) 04:01, 27 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Harej: ✓ Done. you're added by Mono with following reason: "helping with WLM US". —레비Revi 04:17, 27 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I would like to keep it - I developed the current Campaigns infrastructure :) Yuvipanda (talk) 04:34, 27 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I have that right for editing the panamanian campaign for WLM since 2012, yet last year User:Romaine was in charge of all campaigns of all countries so that probably means those rights granded in 2012 should be reevaluated. DNarvaez (talk) 05:01, 27 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I received the right for WLM 2012 - and I used it. In 2013, the WLM campains were edited "monopolistic" (see above). I would have made improvements, but I have respected the decision and pointed only to weaknesses in DE-campaigns, which still exist. Without the right, there is no chance to adapt the "Express Upload", which is used in the Bremen lists of monuments also beside of WLM, to the wizard.--Quarz (talk) 07:27, 27 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the notification. In fact, I didn't know there is a right for configuring the uploadwizard, though I could do it for the 2012 WLM event in Ghana for the first time. This year, we plan to partake, thus maintaining that right will be good for me. I never got any notification whatsoever that I had a right of that sort, so have no idea until this notification came in. Please allow me to have. Ghana will partake in this year's WLM hopefully. Thanks --Nkansahrexford (talk) 06:54, 27 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I configured uploadwizard for Wiki Loves Earth 2013 in Ukraine, and as one of the organizers of Wiki Loves Earth this year I may need this right --Ilya (talk) 08:17, 27 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

This conversation might get really convoluted if everyone comments on their own permissions. Can we split into sections?

In any case, it's weird to me that my editing the campaign doesn't appear, as I used the permissions in 2012 (maybe they were different then and weren't recorded?) In 2013 there was no need to use them. In any case, I would like to retain the permissions in order to be able to use them in future Wiki Loves competitions. In 2014 we will likely be running WLM and might need to edit the campaign, and in 2015 we might run our own competition which will definitely require these permissions.

Thanks, Ynhockey (talk) 09:06, 27 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

For me it's useful everytime we have a photo event in Switzerland like Wiki Loves Monuments. So it means at least every year. --Ilario (talk) 09:08, 27 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Hi. I'm in the same situation as Ynhockey. I remember using the rights to create the wlm-ro campaign back when it was first introduced (perhaps there was no logging then?) and I would like to keep the rights for WLM 2014 RO.--Strainu (talk) 09:13, 27 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
On the mailinglist I have said that I will do the WLM 2014 campaigns. That it seems monopolistic is perhaps the result of how much trouble it gave when a lot of people edited the campaigns in 2011/2012 which gave us a lot of trouble/work. I have no problem with several people having the rights, but users should understand first why certain parts of the campaigns have been chosen in a specific way before editing. Romaine (talk) 09:32, 27 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, and I remember perfectly the kind of trouble we had because of other people's monopolistic view on the tagging and categorizing pictures from WLM. Thanks, but I'd rather make sure myself everything is in order for the local contest.
That being said, one would hope that the amount of change from last year would be minimal.--Strainu (talk) 13:47, 27 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Revi for picking this up, and thanks for the replies. Indeed only actions done after 21 July 2013 are logged, actions before that were not logged (which was the main reason to switch to a new format). Mvg, Basvb (talk) 10:41, 27 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I was using this for 2011 and 2012 Polish WLM campaign. As we now have WLM coordinatior (User:Yarl) - I don't need it anymore. Polimerek (talk) 10:50, 27 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
✓ Done, thanks for your services! —레비Revi 11:34, 27 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, by now I'm the only one maintaining wikiArS campaign tool, then I want to keep the right (someone should to be behind this!). I created Campaign:wikiArS last summer and now is being started to use by the students of this Academic Year. --Dvdgmz (talk) 10:56, 27 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Looks like I'm gonna need this for WLE campaign this year. --WikedKentaur (talk) 13:36, 27 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I worked on the uploadwizard for WLM Chile and Argentina these past years, but probably I won't be in charge anymore, so I don't need the rights now. --B1mbo (talk) 14:52, 27 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I removed your right. JurgenNL (talk) 15:04, 27 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Please feel free to remove those rights from my account. Thanks for the notification. --Racso (talk) 15:04, 27 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I hope I can continue to keep the right since we would be launching another GLAM-related project once WMF gives the go signal. And someone would definitely need these rights to help out those who would be new to Commons. Namayan (talk) 14:34, 28 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

 Keep --Alan (talk) 16:39, 5 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

am helping out from time to time with projects like WLM, e.g. the first ones in CH, and GH, please keep it. --ThurnerRupert (talk) 06:21, 4 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

If no furthur comments are made, I will archive this after a week. (Without removing status) Revicomplaint? 08:53, 10 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi everybody. I am Sturm, a long time wikimedian from Brazil. I wish to run the Wiki Loves Earth for the very first time here and so, I would like to ask for at least the Upload Wizard campaign editors status. Best regards. Thank you. Sturm (talk) 10:11, 29 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
