Title
Steatite blue glaze scarab. View of the top.
Description
The Scarab is one of the most common representations in the Egyptian culture. It was associated with the solar God Khepri, who pushed the sun across the sky everyday like the beetle constantly pushed a ball of dung. The image of a scarab beetle became a common design for an amulet; it was worn with the idea of protecting the wearer, dead or alive.
