Sauropoda

Sauropods (of the suborder Sauropoda) are extinct dinosaurs that had long necks, long tails, small heads and thick legs. They were some of the largest animals ever to have lived, with well-known members including Diplodocus, Brachiosaurus and Apatosaurus (commonly called Brontosaurus). Sauropods evolved in the Triassic, and were widespread across the globe by the late Jurassic. The last sauropods, the titanosaurs, died out in the Late Cretaceous, along with all other non-avian dinosaurs. Sauropods are one of the most recognizable groups of dinosaurs, and have become a fixture in popular culture due to their large sizes.
