[edit]Why did you have an emoji sortkey for a template here: https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Template:Nigeriaestablishmentyear&diff=0&oldid=631273081? —Justin (koavf)❤T☮C☺M☯ 01:46, 18 January 2024 (UTC)
- It is not an emoji, but an asterisk, a typographical symbol, used many times as you can see for example in 2023 in Nigeria and 2023 in Australia, where it is used for *elections, *events, *maps, *photographs … So you can see, it has not been invented by me. The reason is to make the page look more compact. Best wishes --193.240.244.157 02:29, 18 January 2024 (UTC)
- No, you sorted dozens of categories (e.g. here) with an emoji of 🔧. "🔧" is not an asterisk, nor did I claim you invented it. I'm asking why you used "🔧" as a sort key. —Justin (koavf)❤T☮C☺M☯ 03:44, 18 January 2024 (UTC)
- Please be so kind to have a look at the link you have given me. The one (link) does not fit to the other (question). As you can see, the character 🔧 is not shown in your link. And additionally it was inserted into the <noinclude></noinclude> section. This section is not included into the categories, where the templates are used. It's purpose is to categorize the template itself. As you have asked a misleading questions, my answer was given regarding the <includeonly></includeonly> section, where I used the * (asterisk). Thus I hope you see, I DID NOT sort dozens of categories using 🔧, a character having been replaced in the mean time by the greek letter τ. Best wishes. --193.240.244.157 23:32, 20 January 2024 (UTC)
- Dude, I have no clue what you're rambling about. You sorted a template in a category using an emoji: [[Category:Establishments in Nigeria by year|🔧]]. I sorted it with tau. I'm asking why you did that. Please answer the question. —Justin (koavf)❤T☮C☺M☯ 01:20, 21 January 2024 (UTC)

- PLEASE, compare your last answer with your initial question. If you ask questions in a misleading way you must not wonder about getting unexpected answers.
- And by the way, did you check your link, wether one can see the character 🔧? How about an apology from your side? — Preceding unsigned comment was added by 193.240.244.157 (talk) 01:45, 21 January 2024 (UTC)
- You answered my question with a question. I have no clue what you are rambling about above with the includeonly tags. You still sorted things in categories using an emoji and I am still asking you why you did that. —Justin (koavf)❤T☮C☺M☯ 10:19, 21 January 2024 (UTC)
To answer the question you initially intended to ask: I saw other users doing so. Now I have learned it is better to do what is shown in Commons:Categories#Sorting categories:
- The special sortkey τ (lowercase Greek letter Tau) is used to sort templates at the end of the related Commons-category, see for example Category:Transport templates sorted in Category:Transport. (Sorting in Commons is not case sensitive so only uppercase Τ (Tau) is shown.)
I have already changed some of my edits. End of discussion. Thank you.
