Help?
[edit]Hi,
some month ago you edited this map. May I ask you, if you have some svg of it? I want to work it over and translate it. Thanks! --Memnon335bc (talk) 23:30, 11 April 2011 (UTC)
- No, I haven't any .svg version of this file. Altes (talk) 13:45, 12 April 2011 (UTC)
Browser Map
[edit]How about giving proper citation to the original creator of world maps of popular browsers at browserrank? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.142.84.186 (talk • contribs)
- I didn't even know about browserrank when created map so that 2 maps were created independently from each other. Altes (talk) 18:26, 26 July 2011 (UTC)
Unsourced image
[edit]Hello Altes, your map Subdivisions of the Russian Empire by largest ethnolinguistic group (1897).svg is totally unsourced. Where is that 1897 census? You should cite your image otherwise it should be nominated to deletion. Thank you for your answer.Jirka.h23 (talk) 06:48, 17 April 2016 (UTC)
- Census data (in Russian) is available here, data specifically for linguistic composition for each administrative unit (governorate, uyezd, city/town) is here and here.
- I forgot to add sources and noticed this message too late so the file was deleted; I'll probably try to request undeletion soon. Altes (talk) 15:19, 1 May 2016 (UTC)
File:Russian Civil War posters.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.
If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues. |

Maps
[edit]Hi, can I ask how did you create maps such as this? Specifically, did you manually edit the blank svg in Inkscape/Illustrator, selecting countries manually and then changing the colour, or did you do it programmatically, somehow merging that file with a dataset? I'm trying to do this programmatically but I don't know how. Cryptex (talk) 13:52, 22 August 2022 (UTC)
- Hi Cryptex, I created this map manually in Inkscape, just as you've described. However, I did use a script for more detailed maps of the Russian Empire census (such as this). Altes (talk) 00:36, 17 September 2022 (UTC)
