Hello, Anatomist90!
Tip: Add categories to your files
Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

Thanks for uploading File:Dissection of spinal cord.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the No permission since tag with on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.

Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own).

Warning: unless the permission information is given, the file may be deleted after seven days. Thank you.

Where are the photographs from?

[edit]

Thank you for uploading anatomy pictures to Commons. I would like to know the source of the photographs. Are you the author of the photographs? If you are not the author of the photographs, they can not be stored in Commons, because in that case they are copyright violations. --Joku Janne(Fi) (Wikiwiki) 19:52, 28 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for brachial plexus!

Beautiful dissection. Your other work is fantastic as well. We definitely need more high quality photographic anatomical images here. You should also consider uploading some images without labels or arrows so that they can be used for self-testing/studying. Thanks again and keep up the great work! File:Brain dissected after Prof. Nicolas method 2.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Contacting the authors of the website www.anatomyumftm.com

[edit]

There's a few things that can be done in trying to contact the authors of this website to see what their stance is of their copyrighted images being uploaded to wikimedia commons. Do they like it? Are they against it? We need to know this info but for that we need to contact them:

hi

hi
I wanted to thank you for the photographs of human anatomy that you have added to the pages. Stopde (talk) 08:53, 29 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. It has been found that you've added in the image's description only a Template that's not a license and although it provides useful information about the image, it's not a valid license. Could you please resolve this problem, adding the license in the image linked above? You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file. This page may give you more hints on which license to choose. Thank you.

captions

[edit]
Greetings, Anatomist90
[edit]

Fascinating pics. Only one small suggestion.

Some of the captions, especially the red ones (the subject ones)

are next to impossible to see in their prospective backgrounds, even zoomed all the way in. Of course one could assume the red-outlined yellow is the subject. They would stand out more no matter what as red outlined in green, the two being contrasting colors. Too, this message is from a mobile viewer of Wikipedia... ~ Chris C

Typo in File:Human_embryo_8_weeks_2.JPG

There seems to be a typo in this image - "TOERS" instead of "TOES". I assume you have access to the original photo - can you fix the error and reupload? Thanks. 138.16.32.85 15:52, 11 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Before nominating most of these for deletion as duplicates, I figured I'd ask.... is there really any reason to upload so many of what are essentially duplicate images? (yes, I did notice that each of the duplicates have one label that is a slightly different shade, but they are still, for all practical purposes, duplicates.) – JBarta (talk) 18:38, 22 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

For your uploading of many surprisingly nice anatomical photos, thank you! Was a bee (talk) 11:12, 2 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately a hideous amount of the images are rediculously poor, and of very low quality. I'm very hard pressed to find any that actually contribute to the articles they are present in. Please do not place your images in anything but the category titles "Additional Images".83.248.253.252 15:08, 6 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Cerebrum medial surface series

[edit]

Hi Anatomist90! Thank you always for nice image uploading. By the way, recently i found small misplacement of text in File:Slide2ZEN.JPG and File:Slide3ZEN.JPG. Though sulci of medial wall are very difficult to identify, the sulcus labeled as "central sulcus" would be, I suppose, paracentral ramus of the cingulate sulcus. If you have chance to re-upload these images, please check that region. Thank you! --Was a bee (talk) 09:41, 23 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Picture of Sagittal Section of Brain

[edit]

Hi Anatomist90, Thank you for your images. Couple clarifications: Just wanted to note that in the picture of the sagittal section of the brain, <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Slide2ZEN.JPG#filelinks> , the hypophysis is labelled wrong. I believe that is the Anterior Commissure, not the hypophysis, which would be under the hypothalamus.

And in the other picture of the sagittal section: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Slide3ZEN.JPG I belive what you labelled Pons is actually the Midbrain, which means that what you labelled as the 4th Ventricle would technically be the Cerebral Aqueduct leading up to the 4th ventricle in the actual Pons, more caudally which is not shown.
