This image and the others that follow illustrate the species Selenicereus pteranthus and not S. grandiflorus, please change the file names. I can explain how to tell them apart if you wish. epibase (talk) 20:57, 14 January 2010 (UTC)
- I am absolutely sure this isn't Selenicereus grandiflorus whatever the label says. It is a common mistake, even in botanical gardens. I've done research on this genus for many years. Your plant a typical Selenicereus pteranthus without doubt.
- short: S. grandiflorus - rather thin stems, 5-8 angles, needle shaped spines, often light brown or gray c. 10 mm long.
- S. pteranthus - rather robust stems, 4-5 angles, very short, bulbous or conical, often black spines to 2 mm.
- Flora of North America
- Often confused in cultivation, where S. pteranthus is common and S. grandiflorus is rare. Several types of Selenicereus are grown for pharmaceutical purpouses, usually S. pteranthus and S. coniflorus as they are easily cultivated... never S. grandiflorus which is more delicate. I dont't believe so. The plant is about 50 cm high with the infrutescence on the top (The photo is focussed on the top of the plant). I never saw Carlina acaulis with the flower respect. the infrutescence in such a high. In addition, the plant was labelled as Carduus defloratus. Llez (talk) 22:00, 23 February 2010 (UTC)
Sorry, I think now, you are right. I will rename the file. Llez (talk) 18:22, 10 March 2010 (UTC)
Homeopathic remedy
Hi Llez, please note that categorizing of single images like this as homeopathic remedy doesn't make sense. It's not only the certain plant in your image that is the remedy (if one ever beleives in homeopathy) but certainly all the plants in the entire species. Therefore don't categorize your single images, categorize the species instead! Thanks. -- Ies (talk) 16:50, 5 March 2010 (UTC)
You are right. I will remove the categories from the pictures, but it will last some days. Llez (talk) 11:57, 6 March 2010 (UTC)
Dear H. Zell,
The pictures you have uploaded as File:Cyclamen repandum 001.JPG & File:Cyclamen repandum 002.JPG are obviously not Cyclamen repandum but Cyclamen hederifolium.
For your info: I have found several times that plants of Botanical Gardens (Karlsruhe, Berlin) are mislabelled.
I have re-categorised your pictures to Category:Cyclamen hederifolium.
Botanically yours, --Réginald (To reply) 11:38, 13 March 2010 (UTC)
- The pictures are correctly renamed. An additional proof: your pictures have been taken in September, the period of flowering of C. hederifolium. C. repandum is flowering in the spring (March to May). --Réginald (To reply) 15:11, 11 April 2010 (UTC)

File:Euphorbia_helioscopia_001.JPG, File:Euphorbia_helioscopia_002.JPG und File:Euphorbia_helioscopia_003.JPG
Hallo Llez/Archives/2010 (1),
Mit freundlichen Grüßen -- Robert Flogaus-Faust (talk) 21:17, 10 May 2010 (UTC)

Hi! You may want to have a look here: In summary, we like the image, but the scope's a little broad for the unusual preparation. If you modify the scope, this could probably pass. Adam Cuerden (talk) 11:58, 27 May 2010 (UTC)
- Responded to you there (it can sometimes take a few minutes for the front page to update - basically, the Wiki software cachés pages, so it can take a few minutes. There's a "Purge" link to update them a bit quicker, but it's easy to miss.
- By all means go for QI - maybe even Featured picture, if it passes there - but I do think that VI is possible, with a slightly more specific scope. =) Adam Cuerden (talk) 13:14, 27 May 2010 (UTC)

Hyoscyamus niger
Hello Llez, Now a reviewer (strongly) suggests an adjunct in the scope for Commons:Valued image candidates/Hyoscyamus niger 0002.JPG. I don't review VICs for living species scopes myself by lack of knowledge, but I guess that if you wrote the scope exactly like that :
Hyoscyamus niger (Henbane), flower
your image would be promoted. Regards, --Myrabella (talk) 15:38, 29 May 2010 (UTC)
- I've seen the change and added the proper template. Now, I advise you to get in touch with the previous voters to ask them to confirm or reconsider their vote ("A support vote that was made before a change of scope is not counted unless it is reconfirmed afterwards; an oppose vote is counted unless it is changed or withdrawn".) --Myrabella (talk) 21:05, 29 May 2010 (UTC)

- Hello, Llez, I know this is totally unnecessary (asking permission). I was going through the pictures up for voting and when I scrolled down to this one, I was overcome with all kinds of feelings. I thank you very much for posting this wonderful picture for all to see. I used to paint as a casual hobby and I painted a picture similar to this one, I've haven't painted in a very long time and miss it dearly. So I felt compelled to tell you this little story and thank you for the memories. Also if you don't mind I would like to display this picture on my user page at en-wiki, and maybe else where. Please don't blank pages
Hi Llez,
Thank you for your contributions to Commons. I noticed you blanked Category:Roque Chinchado on Commons. I asume you meant for the page to be deleted, but blanking the page is not the right way to do this. I'd like to strongly recommend to use {{speedy| type reason here }} and add it on top of the page you would like to have deleted; This way it will be placed on a special list that administrators check regularly for deletion. Without this it might take a long time before it's noticed. Thanks again. 15:49, 27 June 2010 (UTC)–Krinkletalk
