Gruß --Ricardalovesmonuments (talk) 20:12, 17 May 2020 (UTC)
VG aus München --Mateus2019 (talk) 05:01, 18 May 2020 (UTC)

File:Seal of the University of Santo Tomas.png has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.
The file you added has been deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you believe that the deletion was not in accordance with policy, you may request undeletion. (It is not necessary to request undeletion if using VRT; the file will be automatically restored at the conclusion of the process.) Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

OGG audio files
[edit]Don't use category:OGG audio files, if file is already in some category related to Audio files, eg see example of obvious overcategorization. Explanation also here: {{Catsbyfiletype}}--Estopedist1 (talk) 05:50, 15 July 2020 (UTC)
not ogg specific, e.g. https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Audio_files_of_Baroque_period_classical_music contains no ogg related item. --Mateus2019 (talk) 15:40, 15 July 2020 (UTC)
- what do you mean? Cat:Audio_files_of_Baroque_period_classical_music contains ogg-related items, but it is not important what is the the file format--Estopedist1 (talk) 04:25, 16 July 2020 (UTC)
- Oh, "there will be no topical categorization by file format." was not part of my current knowledge and now I will end adding file type categories to audio files. There should be a note in the cat. description of all such file type categories -- how should people know that ... Next time, make your statement a bit more cleary please. Regarding the example you are still wrong (you are probably mixing hierarchy cats [parents] and assigned cats [children]), but what the heck. --14:38, 16 July 2020 (UTC)
Wiki Loves Monuments 2020
[edit]Hallo Mateus2019,

Category:Germa-language_signs_in_Austria has been listed at Commons:Categories for discussion so that the community can discuss ways in which it should be changed. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry. If you created this category, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for discussion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it. If the category is up for deletion because it has been superseded, consider the notion that although the category may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new category. In all cases, please do not take the category discussion personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you! |

Copyright status: File:BStMI-Gebäude.JPG
[edit]Copyright status: File:BStMI-Gebäude.JPG
This media may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading File:BStMI-Gebäude.JPG. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.
If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.) If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there. Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you. |

- There are a lot of pages already crated by bots in this manner, also some at fr.wp und en.wp. There is no manual to my knowledge which explains the correct way. I am open for suggestions. e.g. the last part

{{{label}}}

Wrong categorization
[edit]There are specific categories for categories and for galleries. Symbolist painters from France and Painters (from France) by name belong to Category:Odilon Redon, not to the gallery page, where it is currently under Gallery pages of painters of France. - ... awaiting your explanation. --Mateus2019 (talk) 16:06, 14 March 2021 (UTC)
- It's already explained above. If you're unable to understand that there are specific categories for both gallery pages and categories then I don't have any other choice to revert you. Synthwave.94 (talk) 16:27, 8 April 2021 (UTC)
- You are not able to express the motivation. Just tell me straight on. You are acting weird. --Mateus2019 (talk) 16:30, 8 April 2021 (UTC)
- As it is clearly stated on Painters by name, "this category should only contain other categories. Galleries should be in the corresponding categories instead." As Category:Odilon Redon is already categorized under Symbolist painters from France and Painters (from France) by name, it's unecessary to add these same categories to the corresponding gallery, where Gallery pages of painters of France is, on the other hand, perfectly appropriate. Synthwave.94 (talk) 17:02, 8 April 2021 (UTC)
- Again stop restoring inappropriate categories. Auntof6 confirmed that these categories should only contain other categories, and not gallery pages. Synthwave.94 (talk) 17:11, 20 April 2021 (UTC)
- I also noticed that this same user reverted you before for the same reasons. Synthwave.94 (talk) 19:26, 20 April 2021 (UTC)

Wiki Loves Earth 2021
[edit]Hallo Mateus2019,

Renaming 15 year old uploads
[edit]Hi Mateus2019, files like File:Canaletto (II) 026.jpg follow a clear naming convention in Category:PD-Art (Yorck Project) and have had the same stable filenames for over 15 years so renaming these is not in line with Commons:File renaming. Please stop doing these renames and undo your recent edits. Thank you, Multichill (talk) 15:54, 11 May 2021 (UTC)
- Hello, are you kdding me? "026" is unacceptable as the title reads otherwise. --Mateus2019 (talk) 16:40, 11 May 2021 (UTC)

- What a poor discussion. At least, you could have replied to my issue (missing title). You (a) don't understand the policy or (b) are silly or (c) stupid. Simon Vouet (Lucretia And Tarquin) vs Eustache Le Sueur (The Rape of Tamar)
[edit]I have contacted the Wikipedia Volunteer Response Team, who have directed me to this Talk page.
All I'm trying to do is point out what looks like an inconsistency of some sort in Wikimedia Commons. Probably also in Wikipedia and other Wiki projects. If you look up the following two links:
https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Rape_of_Tamar_-_Le_Seur.jpg

You should come up with the same image, only by different artists. On the face of it, it seems like an error, but there might be some logical explanation. In fact, if you do a general search outside Wikimedia, you will also find occurrences of both artists for the same image. One particular hit caught my attention:

That is all. If this post is of some use, I am glad. If not, I apologise for taking your time.

We need your feedback!
[edit]Hello. Apologies if this message is not in your native language: please feel free to respond in the language of your choice. Thank you!
I am writing to you because we are looking for feedback for a new Wikimedia Foundation project, Structured Data Across Wikimedia (SDAW). SDAW is a grant-funded programme that will explore ways to structure content on wikitext pages in a way that will be machine-recognizable and -relatable, in order to make reading, editing, and searching easier and more accessible across projects and on the Internet. We are now focusing on designing and building image suggestion features for experienced users.
We have some questions to ask you about your experience with uploading images here on Wikimedia Commons and then adding them to Wikipedia. You can answer these questions on a specific feedback page on Mediawiki, where we will gather feedback. As I said, these questions are in English, but your answers do not need to be in English! You can also answer in your own language, if you feel more comfortable.
Once the collecting of feedback will be over, we will sum it up and share with you a summary, along with updated mocks that will incorporate your inputs.
Also, if you want to keep in touch with us or you want to know more about the project, you can subscribe to our newsletter.
Hope to hear from you soon! -- Sannita (WMF) (talk to me!) 09:56, 2 August 2021 (UTC)

This media may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading File:Piz Mundaun GR (Liftkarte) mid-1980s.jpg.
Thank you. |

Wikimedia Commons does not accept derivative works of non-free works such as File:Portionssticks (Kaffee und Zucker) 2021.jpg. It only accepts free content, which is images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Reproductions of copyrighted works are also subject to the same copyright, and therefore this file must unfortunately be considered non-free. For more information, please read Commons:Derivative works and Commons:Freedom of panorama. You can ask questions about Commons policies in Commons:Help desk.
The file you added has been deleted. If you believe that this file was not a derivative work of a non-free work, you may request undeletion.

--Túrelio (talk) 12:49, 18 May 2022 (UTC)
VG, --Mateus2019 (talk) 13:27, 18 May 2022 (UTC)

- Hallo Mateus2019,
--Túrelio (talk) 07:29, 19 May 2022 (UTC)
Vielen Dank Schubbay (talk) 08:39, 25 May 2022 (UTC)
--Mateus2019 (talk) 09:33, 25 May 2022 (UTC)

- We don't know what the purpose of the plague mask photo shoot was. Plague masks existed during the Middle Ages to prevent healty people getting infected by Black death. At least the wearers thought it would help. The idea of it was to breathe no the plain air but air with strong herbs and other stuff which was integrated in the mask. In my understanding, just wearing any mask does not help to prevent a COVID-19 infection. The COVID-19 pandemic in Washington coining is your interpretation. No word is written about it in the file descr. The Plague masks in this shoot shall transport a weird look to frighten the girl. --Mateus2019 (talk) 04:00, 16 June 2022 (UTC)
- The "girl" is a photographer, who was in that position to get the angle she wanted. And, yes, I do know what was going on, though I didn't choose to recount my conversation with them. The picture is part of a series documenting the shoot. - Jmabel ! talk 15:58, 16 June 2022 (UTC)

Wiki Loves Monuments 2022
[edit]Hallo Mateus2019,

VG --W. B. Jaeger (talk) 09:03, 11 September 2022 (UTC) mini

Spijkenisse is not a city
[edit]Dear Mateus2019, I saw that you changed a category for the gallery page Spijkenisse, from Category:Gallery pages of populated places in the Netherlands to Category:Gallery pages of cities in the Netherlands. But Spijkenisse is formally not a city, it had never city rights. What are your criteria to change it this way? In your opinion: When should a populated place be called a city? Wikidata Infobox on gallery pages
[edit]Hi, Mateus. Please stop adding {{Wikidata infobox}} to gallery pages, at least for those with packed thumbnails:
- If you read the documentation for {{Wikidata infobox}}, you see it was intended for categories, not galleries
- When galleries have packed thumbnails, the infobox causes the rows of the sub-gallery to sometimes have incorrect heights
Also: the edit summaries you are using to add infoboxes to galleries are misleading. They only mention adding categories, not that you're adding infoboxes. Please mention that you are adding an infobox, also. — hike395 (talk) 13:53, 5 December 2022 (UTC)
- Hello -- OK WD IB is not forbidden for gallery pages. seasonal greetz, --Mateus2019 (talk) 08:28, 25 December 2022 (UTC)
- I agree with Mateus2019: Infoboxes are not forbidden on gallery pages. I use them often in gallery pages, they offer a lot of information in a nutshell and in many languages. They are used almost by default in many gallery pages, anyway in Category:Gallery pages of populated places. I have not noticed any problems with incorrect heights of rows. JopkeB (talk) 16:03, 25 December 2022 (UTC)
- I did not say it was forbidden (verboten), I said it was not intended (nicht beabsichtigt) for galleries. The documentation states:
- Includes a Wikidata-enabled infobox on category pages. See Commons:Wikidata infobox help for the FAQ.
- and the FAQ states:
- Over 4 million Commons categories have an infobox on the right-hand side of the page added by the template {{Wikidata Infobox}}.
- If JopkeB is implying that there is consensus for placing these infoboxes on gallery pages, I disagree with that. Doing a random sample from Category:Gallery pages of populated places (per Jopke):
- Plauen has no infobox
- Hainburg an der Donau has no infobox
- Bischofshofen has an infobox, placed by Mateus in March 2022, without mentioning infobox in the edit summary
- Göttingen has an infobox, placed by Mateus in October 2022 (good edit summary)
- Algeciras has no infobox
- Pamplona-Iruña has an infobox, placed by Mateus in October 2022 (upon gallery creation)
- Миколаїв / Николаев has an infobox. placed by Mateus in November 2022, without mentioning infobox in the edit summary
- This isn't "almost by default". Infoboxes on galleries appear to be a unilateral, undiscussed effort by Mateus, largely without adequate edit summaries notifying others that the addition is occurring. Mateus is being BOLD, which is perfectly fine. However, it is the right of any editor to object to unilateral and undiscussed large-scale edits. I am doing so here --- I object to some (but not all) of these edits.
- Gallery layout is not the same as category layout. A category page always has a fixed layout defined by MediaWiki. {{Wikidata Infobox}} is designed to work with that layout. However, gallery pages use <gallery>. When <gallery mode="packed"> is used, MediaWiki computes the heights of the images so that they are uniform across a row and the row fills the entire page. When an editor adds {{Wikidata Infobox}} for pages with <gallery mode="packed">, it disrupts the layout and causes uneven heights and unwanted whitespace. See, for example, the following (you may need to grow/shrink the horizontal size of your window, and look below the infobox to see the effects):
- Now, the Infobox FAQ says
- {{Wikidata Infobox}} doesn't play well with other templates that want to use the whole page width. Move it down below those, and everything should be fine.
- If we follow the advice of the FAQ, then we would put the infobox below the entire gallery (at the end). Can we agree that putting the infobox at the end of the gallery is not a good idea?
- Given this, I asked Mateus to not add {{Wikidata Infobox}} to gallery pages that use <gallery mode="packed">. I also asked for better edit summaries (when adding infoboxes to any other gallery). Over in en:WP, the use of infoboxes is determined per-page -- I think we should follow that here, and not always put infoboxes on every gallery by default. It truly depends on the layout.
- I did not say it was forbidden (verboten), I said it was not intended (nicht beabsichtigt) for galleries. The documentation states:
- I agree with Mateus2019: Infoboxes are not forbidden on gallery pages. I use them often in gallery pages, they offer a lot of information in a nutshell and in many languages. Since my request, Mateus has been very nice and has avoided adding infoboxes to galleries with packed thumbnails. Thank you, Mateus! — hike395 (talk) 18:26, 26 December 2022 (UTC)
- Hi there, again thanks for being nice and polite. I understand, that there were a few issues with blank spaces which are caused by adding the IB. Now I take care of the problem since I'm aware that this could happen. You make such a big issue out of a small cause. Better edit summaries: I'll try harder (pl. consider the amount of hundreds of edits per day). The edit summary is not soooo important, if it does not reflect all changes in text form. I wish you decent remaining days of 2022 and later on, a great year of 2023! Greetz, --Mateus2019 (talk) 18:36, 26 December 2022 (UTC)
- @User:Hike395, thanks for your research and your explanation.
- I guess we have a different frame of reference; mine is the Netherlands for gallery pages about populated places and there are a lot of infoboxes.
- On my screen the gallery pages you mention (starting with Yosemite National Park) show perfectly well, without any ajustments. But apparently on others they don't and we have to take into account all kinds of screens.
- I agree that putting an infobox at the bottom of a gallery page is not a good idea.
- To get consensus and implement a Commons policy about infoboxes on gallery pages, I suggest to take this discussion to a next level, so more people can participate. (It was only by accident that I saw this.)
- JopkeB (talk) 03:44, 27 December 2022 (UTC)
- Mateus: I thought you were going to stop adding infoboxes to galleries with packed thumbnails? [4] Although I see you didn't add it to others [5], so perhaps it was an oversight. — hike395 (talk) 20:28, 22 January 2023 (UTC)
- Hi, Mateus. Now I see you're removing the packing and adding infoboxes, without describing either in the edit summary? here, here You're also leaving some pages broken here. Please don't replace mode=packed with an Infobox --- I don't support this edit (as I explained above). You may be editing too rapidly, I would suggest slowing down. — hike395 (talk) 13:23, 15 May 2023 (UTC)

- There is no preference for your formatting. The WD-IB is more important. Hold ALT and "+" to have a greater display of the img. --Mateus2019 (talk)
- I respectfully disagree. As I said before, the infobox was intended for use in categories, and the consensus was to put them on categories. Packed thumbnails in galleries is documented and are used by many editors. There isn't any consensus to put infoboxes on galleries, let alone ones with packed thumbnails.
- The use of packed thumbnails on Donner Lake has been stable for 3 years. In that case, the packed thumbnail shows the Featured panorama well (because the panorama is displayed up to 460px wide, instead of being forced to be only 120px wide). I object to adding the infobox and removing the packed gallery at Donner Lake. If you are objecting to the heights=144px, we can use the default height, no problem. I'm happy to see if any other editor wants to discuss at Talk:Donner Lake. — hike395 (talk) 07:30, 16 May 2023 (UTC)

[edit]Read this message in your language
Dear Wikimedian,
You are receiving this message because we noticed that you voted in Round 1 of the 2022 Picture of the Year contest, but not yet in the second round. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2022) to produce a single Picture of the Year.
Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year were entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.
In this second and final round, you may vote for a maximum of three images. The image with the most votes will become the Picture of the Year 2022.
Round 2 will end at UTC.
Thanks,
the Wikimedia Commons Picture of the Year committee

Removing sources with cryptic edit summary
[edit]I noticed quite a few paintings in Category:Images without source. These files were properly source by user:Anagoria and user:Wmpearl, but you seem to have removed it. Some examples [7] [8] [9] [10]. Why are you removing sources and why are you doing it with such a cryptic edit summary? Multichill (talk) 17:46, 10 July 2023 (UTC)
- It is useless to set the name of a gallery when a source is asked. So I have removed the silly item. Or do you think it is smart to set a value "museum XY" as a source? One could also say "some book" or "a page in the internet or "a file from a neighbour" >> unprecise. BTW the edit summary states the main topic of the edit not everything. I trust the automatic edit summary. I do not produce cryptic edit summaries (these are done automatically). Thanks for your understanding. --Mateus2019 (talk) 18:52, 10 July 2023 (UTC)
- It's not useless or silly, it's one of the essential things we want for each file. A link is better, but for PD-art files the name of the museum is fine. You deliberately removing it borders vandalism, please don't ever do that again. Multichill (talk) 19:40, 10 July 2023 (UTC)
- ok, I understand. No more such edits. Have a nice day! --Mateus2019 (talk) 17:17, 11 July 2023 (UTC)

I know that Optical illusion is a gallery page and not a category. Category:Gallery pages is a category, but it is not for individual gallery pages. If it were, it would contain an unmanageable number of gallery pages. So Optical illusion does not belong in that category, even though it seems logical that it would. Please don't add that category again. Thanks. -- Auntof6 (talk) 22:06, 16 July 2023 (UTC)
- I don't get it ... --Mateus2019 (talk) 10:30, 3 August 2023 (UTC)
Sondern in passenden Themenkategorien (by topic; Unterkategorien), etwa:
Vielleicht Gallery pages "about art"/"about science"?

Wiki Loves Monuments 2023 - Deutschland
[edit]Hallo Mateus2019,
Rename
[edit]Hi Matteus, someone did a request, it's one of your uploads. What do you think about it. I'm not sure renaming this. See: here, Grtz. - Richardkiwi (talk) (talk) 09:57, 21 September 2023 (UTC)

Hi Matteus, I have recategorized this image as I recognised it as the lighthouse in Ciutadella, something that was confirmed by the geocoding. You may want to rename the file to match the location etc. Thanks Jokulhlaup (talk) 15:21, 4 December 2023 (UTC)

Hi Matteus, this produce is actually artificial, but it's so good, it's hard to tell the difference. I actually had this discussion with a non-WP friend who came across the image, and couldn't believe it was artificial. He's still not convinced. But if you zoom in, you can see seams on 3-4 of the red peppers and 1 of the apples. Faolin42 (talk) 21:31, 29 January 2024 (UTC)

Paintings by Gustave Courbet
[edit]Hello, not sure to understand the purpose of gallery : Paintings by Gustave Courbet. This is full of mistakes. I spent many mounths on this topic. This is not good datas at all. Marc-AntoineV (talk) 16:45, 1 February 2024 (UTC)
- The purpose is an overview (when it got perfect: a listing) of his paintings with some details, and images. I have just created it. Listera and his (ro)bot had done many changes afterwards.[11] The data comes from Wikidata datasets. So the right person to bring up issues is seen in the dataset history. --Mateus2019 (talk) 16:59, 1 February 2024 (UTC)
- It is a very bad idea. More than 1000 paintings are known. --Marc-AntoineV (talk) 22:16, 1 February 2024 (UTC)
Siehe hierzu https://www.sammlung.pinakothek.de/de/artist/Pdxz03EGw5/abraham-mignon
Nun die Frage: Kannst Du Dich an die Quelle / Herkunft noch erinnern? Nemracc (talk) 22:47, 10 February 2024 (UTC)

Welcome, Dear Filemover!
[edit]
Hi Mateus2019, you're now a filemover. When moving files please respect the following advice:
- Use the CommonsDelinker link in the {{Rename}} template to order a bot to replace all ocurrences of the old title with the new one. Or, if there was no rename-request, please use the Move & Replace-tab.
- Please leave a redirect behind unless you have a valid reason not to do so. Other projects, including those using InstantCommons, might be using the file even though they don't show up in the global usage. Deleting the redirects would break their file references. Please see this section of the file rename guideline for more information.
- Please know and follow the file rename guidelines.

Correction
[edit]Bonjour Mateus2019,
Bonne continuation. Jpgibert (talk) 21:30, 2 March 2024 (UTC)

Moved file
[edit]Hi Mateus2019,
You have moved this file to "Flag of the Danish West Indies from american tabacco card.svg".
It is not optimal to have any reference to a "Flag of the Danish West Indies". The flag is bogus; the islands never had a flag of their own, and any unofficial flags had nothing to do with the fantasy flag that has been created by a user who has misunderstood the situation. Unfortunately, the file has been used as illustration in many articles in Wikis as users have thought that is was a genuine representation of a flag used by the islands. So please move it back or move it to something that has not reference to the Danish West Indies. --Pugilist (talk) 15:06, 21 March 2024 (UTC)

File tagging File:Royal-asiatic-society-logo.png
[edit]This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading File:Royal-asiatic-society-logo.png. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). Methods of file renaming (File:Jingiella dongxingensis skeletal graphic.svg)
[edit]Hello, I noticed that you recently renamed one of my uploaded files following a request I made. While I appreciate you taking the time to look at it, I want to point out that your methodology was inappropriate. The original file name, "Jingia Skeletal.svg", succinctly covers to subject while maintaining my established format for these illustrations. Thus, I requested a rename (per "original uploader's request") to "Jingiella Skeletal.svg", following a recently published taxonomic correction. I presume your unilaterally chosen adjusted name was picked to be more descriptive, but such changes should not be made without prior discussion with the uploader/requester (which, in this case, is me). I trust that you understand the importance of honoring the reasonable requests of original uploaders in such matters. I await your prompt rectification of this issue. Thank you, -SlvrHwk (talk) 16:44, 16 April 2024 (UTC)

Luxembourg identity card 2021 (obverse).png – your refusal to rename
[edit]Hi, I'm baffled with your refusal to follow my request and rename File:Luxembourg_identity_card_2021_(obverse).png to File:Luxembourg_identity_card_2014_(obverse).png, you leaving a rather cryptic edit summary[12]. - Check the File usage on other wikis where this image is used unter his name (Trajko Tschundew). The file descr. ("Portrait of Trayko Chundev, Bulgarian revolutionary, member of the Internal Macedonian Revolutionary Organization"/"Снимка на Трайко Чундев, български революционер, член на Вътрешната македонска революционна организация"/ "Portrait von Trajko Tschundew, bulgarischer Revolutionär, Mitglied der Inneren Mazedonischen Revolutionären Organisation"), the summary ("Trayko Chundev, Bulgarian revolutionary, member of the Internal Macedonian Revolutionary Organization") and the category is still Trayko Chundev. so it seemed to me that you have made a bad joke. Also, I am still not convinced of your request. also with wrong name? cheers, --Mateus2019 (talk) 18:29, 18 May 2024 (UTC)
- I did not changed the info data in other wikis and the category, because i was waiting for renaming first. Here (third from left) and here (in the middle) you can see the same person among the others - same eyeglasses and mustaches. I found a book, where other photo of him was present with the name Pane Popantov, so this is the reason i started the procedure of renaming this one. The other picture you've mentioned is of the actual Trayko Chundev, i believe. Best regards. --Протогер (talk) 22:28, 18 May 2024 (UTC)

Denied rename
[edit]Hello,
I noticed that you denied my rename on File:Jake fill bags.jpg. Could you explain? It seems most of that user's contributions are personal in nature, and my request for renaming most of their files was due to wanting to make them general in scope. Should they be nominated for deletion, have different renames, or be left alone?
Thank you,
Packer1028 (talk) 02:52, 12 July 2024 (UTC)
- Hi, there is no much difference between these 2 file names. There could be 1000s of versions just with small variants (e.g. "young male named Jake with canned food"). Bye, --Mateus2019 (talk) 03:01, 12 July 2024 (UTC)

regarding rename
[edit]Hi Mateus, May I ask you why you performed/agreed to this rename yesterday:
Don't you think this name is too long, with basically a filename that for a large part should be entered in the description? And even - which Rose Garden? White House? Why not at the White House then? See, it is already ambiguous.
My suggestion would be something like
- George W. Bush, Condoleezza Rice and Robert Gates - 13 August 2008.jpg
and then in the description field of the file the entire current filename minus jpg:
- President George W. Bush, flanked by Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and Secretary of Defense Robert Gates in the Rose Garden regarding efforts by the United States to resolve the crisis in Georgia, August 13, 2008
Labrang (talk) 20:43, 14 August 2024 (UTC)
- Hello, I think you put too much effort in philosohing. More descriptive file names are useful. --Mateus2019 (talk) 05:57, 15 August 2024 (UTC)
- This seems excessively long. But I guess that's just me being "philosophical". Labrang (talk) 18:00, 29 August 2024 (UTC)
File renaming, criterion 4
[edit]I noticed your rename here. I don't think "Name better to find in Categories by alphabet" qualifies for criterion #4. In this case, I suppose "uploader request" would have been ok. Enhancing999 (talk) 00:01, 15 August 2024 (UTC)
- well, the category aspect is true (safes the Defaultsort template) - it was not my idea. Rational 4 would be true, if there is an effort to perform it on a mission and/or follow regulations. In some cases I did that this paintings (put the last name first). --Mateus2019 (talk) 05:57, 15 August 2024 (UTC)
File renaming
[edit]Mateus2019 could you please rename this file again to add back the "023" at the beginning so that the file name becomes "023 African wolf in the Serengeti National Park Photo by Giles Laurent.jpg" ? Per file naming rules it is tolerated to include catalogue numbers in file name as long that file name remains reasonably brief and also contains a description of the subject, which is the case. Therefore, it should never have been removed. All my files are named with the same format, including the catalogue number, and it is important to me that they keep them. This also allows to have two files with the same name not overlap each other. Thank you in advance. -- Giles Laurent (talk) 18:38, 24 August 2024 (UTC)

Wiki Loves Monuments 2024 - Deutschland
[edit]Hallo Mateus2019,
Gallery pages of New York, New York has been listed at Commons:Categories for discussion so that the community can discuss ways in which it should be changed. Thank you! |

lg --Herzi Pinki (talk) 17:28, 9 September 2024 (UTC)

Dear Wikimedian,
Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the 2023 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the eighteenth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2023) to produce a single Picture of the Year.
Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year are all entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.
For your convenience, we have sorted the images into topical categories. Two rounds of voting will be held: In the first round, you may vote for as many images as you like. The top 30 overall and top 5% of most popular images in each category will continue to the final. In the final round, you may vote for just three images to become the Picture of the Year.
Round 1 will end on UTC.
Thanks,
the Wikimedia Commons Picture of the Year committee

Renaming gone wrong!
[edit]With "Mateus2019 moved page File:Titan-Actros4860-Z52-600F6x6.jpg to File:Titan-Actros4860-Z52-600F8×8.jpg Criterion 3 (obvious error) · This truck has four axle, therefore be can only 8x8" you made a mistake as these are two trucks. Only the yellow Titan-modified Mercedes Actros 4860 is a 8x8, but the white, partially hidden one is a medium size Titan Z52-600F6x6 as written on the front. So please move back to the proper name" 2003:C6:3715:2FFB:B0A6:2056:A21E:A306 06:13, 11 November 2024 (UTC)

- yeah, now its my fault :-Z I cannot check all requests if they contain correct information in depths (workload just for myself: four digit numbers per year). Dont make a big deal out of it. Just make a new rq. Thank you and have a good day --Mateus2019 (talk) 14:33, 11 November 2024 (UTC)

Raum I AP/NP
--Mateus2019 (talk) 15:55, 17 November 2024 (UTC)
