Thanks for uploading File:Opera Rivadossi.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded ([[:File:Opera Rivadossi.jpg]] ) and the above demanded information in your request. |

Category:Alden_B._Vining has been listed at Commons:Categories for discussion so that the community can discuss ways in which it should be changed. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry. If you created this category, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for discussion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it. If the category is up for deletion because it has been superseded, consider the notion that although the category may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new category. In all cases, please do not take the category discussion personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you! |

Why moving Category:'l Elefante Felice (vacation home in Porto Ercole) to Category:L'Elefante Felice?
Why did you move Category:'l Elefante Felice (vacation home in Porto Ercole) to Category:L'Elefante Felice? I think the first category name is more clear than yours. Therefor it would have been more elegant if you would have first discussed this. JopkeB (talk) 15:55, 9 September 2023 (UTC)
- @JopkeB: As I can guess, a building in Italy has an Italian name, don't you agree? If so, in Italian the correct form is L'Elefante Felice, as you can check on google [1]. That's why I moved the category without asking your opinion. MrKeefeJohn (talk) 18:33, 9 September 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks for responding. So there was a typographical error, thanks for correcting that. But why did you leave out "(vacation home in Porto Ercole)"? I think that is meaningful information. JopkeB (talk) 05:13, 10 September 2023 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading File:Marianella Laszlo.png. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.
If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.) If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there. Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you. |

Category:Torre Guaceto (Carovigno)
Hi MrKeefeJohn.
By moving Category:Torre Guaceto (Carovigno) from "Category:Coastal towers in Italy" to "Category:Coastal towers in Apulia", you have rightly eliminated an incorrect overcategorization, because Apulia is a region of Italy. Good.
But now there is another overcategorization, because there is the Category:Coastal towers in the province of Brindisi which already contains "Category:Torre Guaceto (Carovigno)". And the province of Brindisi is a territorial part of Apulia.
So I deleted this other overcategorization, simply by eliminating "Category:Torre Guaceto (Carovigno)" from "Category:Coastal towers in Apulia".
So that now: "Category:Torre Guaceto (Carovigno)" is only in "Category:Coastal towers in the province of Brindisi", which is in "Category:Coastal towers in Apulia", which is in "Category:Coastal towers in Italy by region".
Thank you for your attention and greetings. Fabrizio Garrisi (talk) 21:13, 26 September 2023 (UTC)

Thank you. |

Please, do not add categories "Historical images" anymore
Categories with "Historical images" or "Historical photographs" in the category name are not allowed anymore, see Commons:Categories for discussion/2019/09/Category:Historical images. The category names should be more specific, like "19th century" or "1920s". So please, do not make them anymore, like you did today (Category:Historical images of Caucasus). And please rename the ones you have made already. JopkeB (talk) 15:50, 2 November 2023 (UTC)

Madonna delle Galline
Hi, I just reverted your edits about Category:Madonna delle Galline and Category:Shrine of Our Lady of the Hens.
- Categories can be moved, you should not just copy-paste them to your preferred title.
- Madonna delle Galline is the Italian translation of Our Lady of the Hens, not a subcategory of it.
- Madonna delle Galline (Our Lady of the Hens) is a title of Mary, mother of Jesus, not a shrine.
- The shrine is named Santuario della Madonna delle Galline (Shrine of Our Lady of the Hens), not just Madonna delle Galline.
- File:Tosello.jpg was not taken in the shrine. Tosellos are located in the streets.
Please, refrain from such incorrect and detrimental edits. Daniele Fisichella 13:11, 10 December 2023 (UTC)

Pra - Barant
Hello MrKeefeJohn, you moved the category "Pra - Barant" to "Oasi faunistica del Barant". I do not understand this because "Pra - Barant" is a proper noun and the official name of the WDPA-ID: 555528074 and the Natura-2000-ID: IT1110032. Please explain why you moved this. Regards HeinrichStuerzl (talk) 17:15, 20 November 2023 (UTC)
- As far as I can see, the name "Oasi faunistica del Barant" is not an official name. It was mentioned only in this document Question no. 1461 on the website of the Piedmont Regional Council 2007. However the name "Pra - Barant" is the official name of the Natura 2000 site no. IT1110032 since 1995 and also of the Special Area of Conservation WDPA ID 555528074. Also, I can't see whether both names cover the same area. According to Commons Category names I will undo this renaming. HeinrichStuerzl (talk) 11:32, 2 December 2023 (UTC)
- Hello @HeinrichStuerzl: When I can't find other sources, I rename the category according to the title used in the other wikies. In this case there's only the italian one it:Oasi faunistica del Barant, that's why I moved it to Oasi faunistica del Barant. Anyway, I do not oppose to your renaming. Thank you for your message. MrKeefeJohn (talk) 11:38, 2 December 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you for your understanding. Best HeinrichStuerzl (talk) 18:53, 2 December 2023 (UTC)

Disputing a rename
Hi. Happy to hear a reason why we would go outside the designated nomenclature for categories, though would expect to see something on my talk page, not just reverts. There is a process for suggesting moves of categories similarly, and for retaining redirects of categories, and I ask that you re-read those. Thanks. — billinghurst sDrewth 11:26, 10 January 2024 (UTC)
