Happy Holidays
Happy Holidays! | |
G'day, just a quick greeting wishing you and your family happy holidays and all the best for 2014. And of course, a big thank you for putting a leg up by doing what you do on Commons, and helping to make it the fantastic project that it is. Greetings from a warm west coast of Aussie. russavia (talk) 02:01, 24 December 2013 (UTC) |

PD-Old or PD-old
Hello Zhuyifei1999
Merry Christmas! And a small question: I saw you changed on this file the license "PD-Old" (capital O) to "PD-old". Is there any difference between the two? I'm busy with old botanical plates, so I use this license often, don't want to add a lot of mistakes! Looking forward for your comment, greetings, Maarten Sepp (talk) 07:49, 25 December 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks and merry Christmas to you too . For PD-Old, there's a minor problem that it's not categorized correctly (example: Category:PD-scan (PD-Old)). Just trying to fix those. --Zhuyifei1999 (talk) 07:58, 25 December 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks for your quick answer, I'll use "PD-old"from now on. Maarten Sepp (talk) 15:06, 25 December 2013 (UTC)
IgnorePatternWhitespace
Just two notes:
- Your most recent edit made the flag IgnorePatternWhitespace irrelevant. (No difference between ON and OFF)
- I guess the author originally wanted to have an option that 'own work' matches 'ownwork'. I think that the flag is useless in the kind of application we have here. Furthermore the '[ ]' make the code less readable and I am not sure if IgnorePatternWhitespace is implemented in other regex implementations than the NET one. I see two options now:
- "Correct" your last edit and apply the NET flavor to all new regexes that are going to be added
- Wipe the NET flavor entirely and (optionally) replace 'own work' et al. with 'own ?work'
I'd go with the second one (wipe the NET flavor) because of the reasons provided earlier (This flag causes confusion and we should uniformly either have 'own work' et al. OR 'own ?work'). What do you think? --McZusatz (talk) 14:15, 25 December 2013 (UTC)
- I personally also prefer the second option, as most regex-using languages/libraries (such as in py and js) don't ignore the whitespaces, and I have no idea why .Net have to be different from others. Also I support using 'own ?work'.--Zhuyifei1999 (talk) 14:33, 25 December 2013 (UTC)
Hello Zhuyifei1999,
Please don't modify Module:Wikidata4Bio without having tested your modifications in Module:Wikidata4Bio/sandbox and verified the result with {{VN/sandbox}}.
Because this module is heavily used.
Also as I am modifying Module:Wikidata4Bio/sandbox, there was a risk that I would copy Module:Wikidata4Bio/sandbox to Module:Wikidata4Bio without incorporating your modifications.
What is the problem ?
Best regards 12:47, 30 December 2013 (UTC)
- @Liné1: Script errors. Try Actinidia_deliciosa with {{VN/sandbox}}. ;) --Zhuyifei1999 (talk) 12:58, 30 December 2013 (UTC)
- As always, a strange case:
- VN was called with de=
- wikidata had no 'de' interwiki (I will solve that later)
- but wikidata had a 'de' label.
- VN de= contains 'de' wikidata label
- Thanks for the correction.
- Best regards Liné1 (talk) 13:18, 30 December 2013 (UTC)
- You're welcome and also thanks for pointing out why it happens (reading a script not written by me takes time). Also I will try to remember to do some testing first. --Zhuyifei1999 (talk) 13:26, 30 December 2013 (UTC)

Just letting you know: < nowiki> et al. are considered to be preserved. --McZusatz (talk) 13:06, 3 January 2014 (UTC)

Unknown author
Hi! I came across this bot task approval request and I'm wondering if you could extend your regexp in order to catch also Ukrainian translation of "unknown" which I can see here and there. It is "Невідомий" or "невідомий", have a look here for an example: File:Бойки.jpg. Thanks --DixonD (talk) 13:15, 5 January 2014 (UTC)
- I can extend that regex, but it's likely that the file is not in Category:Author matching Creator template, Creator template not used. I may have to do a major recode (by dump?) to find the files. --Zhuyifei1999 (talk) 13:30, 5 January 2014 (UTC)
- user:dixonD, please merge the two expressions into Commons:regex#Multilingual_tags so other Bot operators may be notified of the update as well. --McZusatz (talk) 18:40, 5 January 2014 (UTC)

Bot is adding wrong categories
The bot is again marking Files from me with "Category:Media without a license: needs history check" although there is a correct license added, see here and here. What is wrong? Cheers, --CEphoto, Uwe Aranas (talk) 11:34, 8 January 2014 (UTC)
- They are missing {{License template tag}}. Hope [1] fixes the problem. Feel free to revert my bot's edits :) --Zhuyifei1999 (talk) 11:40, 8 January 2014 (UTC)
- Improperly closed license tag (just the attribution template was closed, not the complete license tag), now fixed for the two images. And I have reverted the change to User:Cccefalon/license, a standard license template is required at images or the template itself (should be at images). --Denniss (talk) 11:50, 8 January 2014 (UTC)
- Thank you for fixing the problem, guys. Seems, it was a single problem among two files. I checked some others of my files and the amount of closing brackets was ok. I'm reliefed now; I feared that several thousand file info might be wrong. --CEphoto, Uwe Aranas (talk) 12:13, 8 January 2014 (UTC)

Copyright status: File:Ali Doğramacı Məhərrəm Məmmədova diplom təqdim edərkən.jpeg
This media may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading File:Ali Doğramacı Məhərrəm Məmmədova diplom təqdim edərkən.jpeg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.
If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.) If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there. Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you. |

Removing template Uncategorized
Would it be possible for you to remove the template {{Uncategorised}} from files in Category:Dutch pronunciation? Several thousands files uploaded in mid November were not catagorized due to an error in VicuñaUploader 1.19. The files have later been categorized by the original uploader, but they are still tagged as uncategorized. I have confirmation from the uploader that it is ok to remove the template. - 4ing (talk) 20:04, 7 January 2014 (UTC)

Abuse filter
Hi Zhuyifei1999,
you may want to help me with a new AF to stop the Village pump spammer (like [2], [3], and many more during the last couple of weeks).
It could be, for example:
- preventing any recently registered account from posting anything on Village Pump >5000KB,
- preventing any recently registered account from posting anything containing external links on Village Pump,
- preventing any account from posting anything with >10 external links at once (donna know if it's possible??).
Do you have any idea, and could you help to write the necessary command? --A.Savin 12:51, 19 January 2014 (UTC)
- Preventing any recently registered account from posting anything with >10 external links at once is the most reasonable I guess. Have to find some emails for that. --Zhuyifei1999 (talk) 02:59, 20 January 2014 (UTC)

Picture of the Year 2013 R2 Announcement
Round 2 of Picture of the Year 2013 is open!
- ⧼Wikibase-terms/Archive 2⧽: Deutsch, Ελληνικά, English, français, magyar, italiano, македонски, 日本語, русский, svenska
Dear Wikimedians,
Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the second round of the 2013 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the eighth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2013) to produce a single Picture of the Year.
Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year were entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.
There are two total rounds of voting. In the first round, you voted for as many images as you liked. The top 30 overall and the most popular image in each category have continued to the final. In the final round, you may vote for just one image to become the Picture of the Year.
Round 2 will end on 7 March 2014. https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:MyLanguage/Commons:Picture_of_the_Year/2013/Introduction/en Click here to learn more and vote »]

Panoramio review Bot?
Dear User Zhuyifei1999,
Thank You for creating the new Picasa Review 2 bot! If you have the time, please consider creating a review bot for panoramio images too. When people upload images to Wikicommons from a picture website, they use either flickr, picasa or panoramio. Unfortunately, no one ever created a panoramio review bot. So, when someone uploads 600 or 800 images to panoramio, few people can mark them without a bot's help unless they have a lot of free time. Everyone is swamped and we trusted users have to work in the real world too.
This is just a suggestion about creating a bot for panoramio review. Nothing more. Thank You for your time, --Leoboudv (talk) 06:39, 24 February 2014 (UTC)
- I will try do that after COM:BWR#PD_images_from_Flickr_with_a_non-free_license is done ;) --Zhuyifei1999 (talk) 08:52, 24 February 2014 (UTC)
- OK. Thank you. I should have said "people upload images to Wikicommons from a picture website, they mostly use either flickr, picasa or panoramio." Best Regards in future on a panoramio bot, --Leoboudv (talk) 09:17, 24 February 2014 (UTC)

Unidentified aircraft
Hi, I just reverted a bad bot edit by YiFeiBot, to D-AXLK (aircraft) that had removed valid categories and replaced them with Category:Unidentified aircraft. IMHO, generally, the action of creating a registration category and assigning it to Unidentified aircraft should be reviewed and amended to suit.MTIA PeterWD (talk) 08:49, 28 February 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks for reporting this. The reason is that the bot used the special page to find the wanted categories and did not check again to see if the category is already created. I will fix this before the next run. ;) --Zhuyifei1999 (talk) 09:02, 28 February 2014 (UTC)

Panoramio bot
Thanks for the banner Zhuyifei1999.
When you have some time, please consider creating a badly needed bot for panoramio. I have been working this past week and have no time to mark these images and the backlog there is 900+ images. A bot is badly needed...if one can be created of course. Someone even sent me here a plea to mark his panoramio images but I have to work sadly.
