Happy Friday, Ann! From the Sensory prompts, how about: "A clearing of wildflowers amidst a forest" and "Shattered glass"?

Here’s some Merrill for @dadrunkwriting!

One of her favorite spots on Sundermount was a ruin.

Most of her favorite spots were ruins, truth be told. She loved clambering over crumbling walls and slipping through shattered windows, loved the way ivy wound around columns and wildflowers carpeted the floors. And there were always treasures to be found- bits of broken stained glass, trinkets that may or may not have been important to those who lost them, traces of lives and worlds she could never know. Merrill loved every ruin she found, not for the knowledge they might grant or the secrets they might hold, but for what they were in themselves.

Dadrunkwriting, A note from a companion to Rook about the Lighthouse

Sure thing! Here’s some Inas and Davrin for @dadrunkwriting!

Davrin didn’t know who to ask about his missing items. Item, singular. It was embarrassing. Even before he was a Warden, he was a hunter- a Dalish hunter, at that. Keeping a neat and tidy pack and bedroll was essential. He prided himself on his organizational skills. To lose track of his possessions, any of his possessions, was completely out of character for him. It was… it was embarrassing, that’s what it was.

Happy Friday! How about "A message between two companions about Rook" from the codex prompts?

Absolutely! Here’s some Emmerich and Lucanis discussing Mourn Watch Rook for @dadrunkwriting! Veilguard spoilers apply!

Emmerich was not surprised to find the first note on his desk. Lucanis had questions about the art of necromancy. To be more precise, he had frustrations with the practice. It was perfectly logical. His career, his practice, his life’s work, was in dealing death. To learn that death was not an end but simply a stepping stone in a soul’s journey must be alarming. Of course Emmerich was unsurprised to find a note. He suspected it would contain a continuation of their previous conversation concerning King Markus- a man is not that lucky, there have been over twenty contracts on his life and he was poisoned seven times, how can a man dodge death with such ease?

Happy Friday!! Would love to see your take on “Rook’s shopping list” 🥰

Here’s Mourn Watch Rook’s shopping list for @dadrunkwriting! It’s a continuation of this fill!

Elena held her shopping list tightly in her hand, the paper crinkling in her grip as she nervously glanced at the door leading to the pantry. No one was in the dining hall or kitchen, and she didn’t hear anything (or anyone) behind that closed door. Lucanis was out, then, and everyone else was tending to business elsewhere. No one would witness her write down her own requests on Lucanis’ shopping list. No one would know.

Hey happy DADWC, how about Rook’s notes on the Lighthouse/Caretaker from the Rook Codex prompt list? ~Mythalsknickers

Absolutely! Here’s some Inas for @dadrunkwriting! Veilguard Spoilers apply!

Inas wasn’t much of a writer. Writing left evidence, traces of a person, and that was bad policy in her line of work. She wasn’t supposed to be easy to track, and writing left a trail. But sometimes writing was necessary. You had to share information somehow, and writing was the most efficient way to do it. Leave notes, send letters, write messages in code- it had to be done, though she didn’t enjoy it. She hated leaving evidence.

She hated writing goodbyes even more.

happy friday! how about visiting an old haunt from the nostalgia prompts for anders (or another character of your choice)?

Here’s some more Pacific Rim AU Anders for @dadrunkwriting!

Anders liked walking along the sea wall that overlooked the bay. He paced back and forth along the narrow concrete, each metal signpost and roll of barbed wire a familiar friend. The cries of the seagulls above and barking seals and sealions below were music to his ears, and the tang of salt and acrid burn of smoke from the city were refreshing after days of smelling nothing but sterile infirmary bleach and chalky rubber gloves.

Happy Friday: Temperance: What does Rook need to heal within themself to become a better partner? What about their SO?

Sure thing! Here’s some Crow!Rook for @dadrunkwriting!

It was easy to play pretend. Inas learned as soon as she could walk- earlier, maybe, though she couldn’t recall those day. But from the foggy memories she retained from childhood, Inas knew what it was to pretend to be someone else. But it was not play. No, it was life or death, and she threw herself into the roles she took with everything within her. She was a dedicated actress before she could even read a part, because acting was what kept a roof over her head and food in her belly. Acting put a knife in her hand and clothes on her back, and she played whatever part was needed: wide-eyed waif, light-handed thief, famed beauty, deadly assassin- it was easy to pretend. Sincerity was much harder.

sometimes I wonder how y'all are obsessed with specific characters and I'm like "why them" but then I remember that sometimes its literally not your choice you just look at them wrong and all of a sudden they're taking up your every thought forever

Happy Friday, Ann! From the Veilguard tarot prompts, how about: The Tower: How do Rook and their partner support each other in coping with the trauma they’ve endured?

Absolutely! Here’s some Mourn Watch! Rook and Lucanis for @dadrunkwriting!

“If you require another room, we can find one,” Rook said suddenly one day as Lucanis was peeling an apple with a knife. He didn’t know where the question came from. He didn’t bother asking. Rook’s mind leaped from thought to thought to yet another thought, and then she would voice the fourth or fifth thought in that chain. He had grown used to these sudden statements, and he found a strange sort of satisfaction in piecing together the way Rook came to these observations. It was… soothing. It kept his own mind occupied and away from thoughts of dark, damp places and the ever-shifting murky light of the seabed.

Happy Friday! How about: "old clothes that no longer fit" from the nostalgia prompts?

Absolutely! Here’s some young pre-Inquisition Trevelyan looking at her apprentice robes for @dadrunkwriting!

The robes were too short now, which nearly made her laugh. Evelyn’s growth spurt was barely noticeable, especially compared with her peers, but now it could not be denied that she had grown. The hem of her apprentice robes hung several inches above her ankles, and there was no more hem to let out. She could add a border, of course, but the robe was also tight around the chest, and she would need even more fabric to fix that. And she would have to mend the robe herself, and Evelyn knew that her sewing was abysmal. If she altered her robe it was likely to fall apart the moment she put it on. No, she would have to order a new robe.

Happy Friday! I am OBSESSED with your Pacific Rim AU, so I'd like anything set there with the bonus prompt of "bloodied lip" (sensory prompts again!)

I would be delighted to write more Pacific Rim AU! Here’s some Isabela for @dadrunkwriting!

She liked the new guy.

He was quiet, sure, and grim, but she piloted with Carver often enough that she could handle tall, dour, and silent. Might not be her favorite choice in a partner, but Varric was right when he pointed out that they couldn’t keep swapping Hawkes around whenever there was a Darkspawn attack. That was going to lead to burnout, and fast. They needed a new pilot- a permanent pilot- and he found a good one. Got him out of Tevinter, needs out of the country and we’ve got a spot for him.

The Lone Wolf didn’t need an introduction. News reels and battle reports proceeded him, rolling out the red carpet right to the door of the Kirkwall Defense Force. Apparently, Varric had to battle Meredith for the right to have the Lone Wolf as a pilot- she wanted to recruit him to the Templar forces, but when Varric pointed out that she poached the last three new pilots that came to Kirkwall the Viscount intervened and insisted that the famous Lone Wolf find a partner with their squad.

Happy DADWC! How about "Analysis of a piece of art created for/about Rook" from the Rook Codex prompts?

Here’s a prompt about Inas de Riva for @dadrunkwriting! Veilguard Spoilers apply!

“You found this in an art gallery?” Bellara asked again. She liked to triple check everything. That was part of being a Veil Jumper: check, check again, and if you aren’t absolutely sure you check one more time for good measure. She ran her finger over the elaborate scrolls of the painting’s gilt frame.

“An art gallery’s storage warehouse, yes, but it is part of the private collection,” Lucanis said dryly.

“Was,” Neve corrected. “Was part of a private collection.”

“I liberated it,” Lucanis replied, emphasizing his statement with a casual shrug of his shoulders. When Neve rolled her eyes in exasperation he smiled, utterly unrepentant. He seemed satisfied with his prize, considering the fact that he strode into Bellara’s room with the painting tucked under his arm and Neve trailing behind him. He set the painting on an empty easel, tore the protective canvas off the painting, and waited for them to react.

"Chocolate covered berries." with a character/pairing of your choice?

Absolutely! Here’s some Dorian and Trevelyan friendship for @dadrunkwriting!

“It isn’t chocolate covered strawberries, but it’s better than nothing,” Dorian announced as they sat down at the table in his corner of the library. Evelyn sat down and looked over the elaborate spread. Chocolate covered berries or not, Dorian had somehow procured fresh grapes to accompany their usual tea. Evelyn didn’t even want to know how he managed it- it had to be bribery of some sort, and Josephine had to have been involved. But at the same time, she was grateful. She wasn’t one to turn away a gift, after all. She carefully took her tea saucer and set a few small sandwiches on it before plucking a small bunch of grapes from the bowl.
