Bat in flight

This Grey-headed Flying was captured when leaving the day roosting camp on its way for a night search for food. They mostly feed on nectar and pollen which makes them an important pollinator of the Australian forests. Unfortunately their numbers are plummeting in an alarming pace. From a few millions only 20-30 years ago the total population is around the 300-400 thousands mark. If this decline persists they will be extinct before the end of the century.
