Birdhouse in Washington Park • Albany, NY, Becca James: "Rising some thirty feet in the air, the carved wooden structure features whimsical miniatures facades which range from simple Greek temple columns to gingerbread-like Swiss chalets. The birdhouse was built in 1974, removed in 2001 due to detorioration, and restored in 2005. It was the work of William Schade. The conservation area at McCaulay Mountain is home to Birdhouse City, which features over 100 birdhouses, each one unique and sitting atop a numbered pole. Birdhouse City was the project of Doug Harnes, former superintendent with the conservation authority.
