We paid a lot when we bought this house in 2005 for upgraded cherry cabinets in the kitchen, so painting over them wasn’t gonna happen. 🫠 But it needed some work to make it look more timeless. This is how we got the look.

👉🏼 Replaced the mixed tile backsplash with matte white lantern tiles: $1500 (we removed the old tile and had the new tiles installed professionally)

👉🏼 Replaced the Baltic Brown granite with @cambriasurfaces Dovestone quartz counters: $7,000

👉🏼 Replaced the glass pendant lights with round lanterns. $150

👉🏼 Replaced the double bowl stainless steel sink with a single bowl white fireclay sink: $300

👉🏼 Swapped the knobs on the cabinetry for handles and cup pulls: $700 Baltic Brown Granite, Lantern Tile, White Lantern, Brown Granite, Glass Pendant Lights, White Lanterns, Cherry Cabinets, Fireclay Sink, Stainless Steel Sink

Today I’m starting a new series: Kitchen Focus. Each month I’ll take one aspect of kitchen design and talk about my preferences and reasoning for choosing certain features. This week, I’m going to start with my green kitchen cabinets.I didn’t have the money to completely replace the cabinets, so instead I researched how to do a cabinet reface myself (Home Depot’s cabinet refacing estimate came in around $11K which I thought was overpriced). The cabinets themselves were not in bad condition.
