before i close my eyes — a gu dae-hong drabble

no warnings, just fluff <3

a/n: i would sell my soul for soft moments with gu dae-hong <3

as your boyfriend dae-hong is on the verge of falling asleep, he always makes it a point to scan over your face before he succumbs to his sleep

usually you’re the one falling asleep first — snuggled up into his chest, taking in his oh-so-familiar scent that resembles fresh laundry and citrus — there was no comfort that could top the end of your day

once, as you’ve had a bit too much caffeine through the day, you peer up at dae-hong, his sleepy eyes meeting yours

“aren’t you going to sleep?” you question, scanning his face for a response

dae-hong simply pinches your cheek gently “i always wait for you to fall asleep first, love” he replies with a small chuckle. even on the verge of falling asleep, he never fails to look at you with endearment in his eyes

his response confuses you even more “but you’re already tired, gu. don’t you want to rest?” you ask again, reaching for his hand and giving it a squeeze

taking your hand and press a kiss to the back of it, dae-hong confesses “always wanna make sure you’re sleeping well before i do too…” he starts, his soft gaze meeting your own

although both of you are swallowed by the darkness of the room, you swear he can see the faint pink tinting your cheek gently

“…need to know you’re content and comfortable before i close my eyes” he continues, pulling you closer into his arms

out of a mixture of both embarrassment and shyness, you instinctively bury your face into his chest, hiding there

playing with the hem of his shirt, you murmur into his shirt “i love you”

you can almost hear the grin in his voice “i love you too, darling”

that night as you drift off to sleep, snuggled into gu dae-hong as always, you can’t fight the smile the creeps onto your face

oh how you were so lucky to have him

journaling with gu dae-hong

it’s a part of gu dae-hong’s schedule to sit down at the end of the day and write a few words in his journal

definitely has a page dedicated to mood tracking! lucky for him, most of the slots are colored in yellow, representing a positive mood

dae-hong definitely convinces you to journal with him! he claims it’s a good form of unwinding and appreciating every day!

he likes to keep scraps like receipts or tickets to paste into his journal! currently, his favorite things to keep are receipts from restaurants on dates out <3

you and dae-hong are regular visitors to craft stores and daiso! after a quick drink at the cafe, you two roam around for hours picking up new sheets of stickers, paper, and decorative tape

sometimes, when you’re not looking, dae-ho will flip to a random page in your journal and write a sweet message!

“let’s have another great day together! i love you” you can’t help but to grin at the note! you’ll have to write one back later when he’s not looking

when he has a bad shift at the station, his journal is probably the first to hear about it. dae-hong hurriedly snatches his journal off of his desk, spilling his rants into it

his reasoning is that if he goes to you first about his problems, he could come off as irrational or too harshly spoken

sitting together, both of you will go through his entry and pick out the key problems and make ways to solve them!

looking for journal inspiration, your hands eagerly move to your boyfriends journal! he gave you the pass to flip through it, and you were going to use it!

nothing seems out of the ordinary until you’re met with a page in the back of the book, displaying a polaroid picture from when you two started dating, both of you smiling brightly at the camera

the page is decorated with hearts and stars, papers cut in detail to frame the photo beautifully

in dae-hong’s beautiful print, the date of your anniversary is written, followed by both of your names in the middle of a heart

looking further, you see how much of dae-hong’s journal is actually about you

he noted down your doctors appointment, a reminder to himself to take you

he noted down the date of the concert you wanted to see, referencing it later when he bought the tickets

he even noted down the date of your interview, so that he could be there to cheer you on and celebrate with you afterwards!

if it had to do with you, gu-daehong would be damned if he forgot anything important, and journaling helped him with just that!
