NOTE: Since making my video, I increased the cornstarch to 4 teaspoons for a thicker filling. This custard filling can be made well in advance. It's best to have the egg yolks & oil at room temperature and be sure to aerate your flour before measuring. - Jenny Jones

This variation takes my popular cinnamon roll recipe and layers vanilla custard over the cinnamon filling. Instead of frosting these moist custard rolls they get brushed in a a honey butter glaze.

These light, fluffy, sweet custard buns are reminiscent of something from an old-school bakery. You can make the dough ahead of time and leave it in the fridge until it’s time to roll and bake - just be sure to give yourself enough time for the second proving.
