Welcome to a Night in Bethlehem at Purple Chocolat Home. A few years ago we realized that we wanted to celebrate the birth of Christ on an extra night - separate from presents and Santa, and make it be a celebration of the true meaning of Christmas. The house is prepared by moving the furniture out, and placing additional rugs on the floor as we are going to sit on the rugs with tables elevated on #10 cans. It’s really special to imagine what life may have been like for Mary and Joseph through our sense of taste.  Here is the menu we typically use:  🪔Fish 🪔Round flat bread 🪔Goat cheese or feta cheese 🪔Olives 🪔Grapes 🪔Cucumbers 🪔Pomegranates 🪔Almonds 🪔Dates 🪔Figs (or Fig Newtons 😉) 🪔Sparkling grape juice  You definitely don’t need all of these to make a Bethlehem dinner—in fact, the simpler the better. We loved discussing Jesus’s teachings about the food we ate, especially fish, bread, grapes, and figs.  And of course we had to sing the song “When Joseph Went to Bethlehem” because it says he brought bread and goat cheese.
