NOAA tide tables have been in production for more than 100 years and are used by both commercial and recreational mariners for safe navigation. Printed tide tables provide the user with tide and tidal current predictions in an easy-to-read format for a particular location. NOAA's Center for Operational Oceanographic Products and Services and predecessor agencies have been producing these tide tables since 1867. Tide tables are produced annually and come out in October.

Intertidal Zone: The shoreline between high and low tide.

The intertidal zone or “littoral zone” is the term used to describe the seashore which is covered during high tide and exposed during low tide, revealing a unique biome which survives under such fluctuating conditions.

The intertidal zone is an ecosystem found on marine shorelines, where a multitude of organisms living on the shore survive changes between high and low tides.

While some of the species on the rocks surrounding the pools dip down into the "tidepool" itself, many species would not otherwise be able to live this high up in the intertidal without this pocket of water in the rocks. Deep pools like this one are great to observe for longer periods of time. Look for hermit crabs, tidepool sculpin and other marine life living amongst the plants. WADDEN SEA, Denmark, Germany & Netherlands: is an intertidal zone in the southeastern part of the North Sea. By the Early Oligocene, 34 to 28 million years ago, the emergence of Western and Central Europe had almost completely separated the North Sea from the Tethys Ocean, which gradually shrank to become the Mediterranean as Southern Europe and South West Asia became dry land. The Wadden Sea developed as a shallow body of water with tidal flats and wetlands rich in biological diversity.
