What is Meiosis? A process of cell division in which cell nucleus and nucleoplasm divides twice.

Meiosis: It takes place in two stages are termed as Meiotic-I and Meiotic-II. Meiotic-I division is called reduction because in its process the number of chromosomes in each daughter cell becomes half as compared with the parent cell. Meiotic-II division is similar to that of mitosis because each daughter cell has the same number of chromosomes.
