To that end, as you’ve seen, we have quite a few pocket doors. But this is another way to tuck doors cleverly out of the way when open. This door is on a pivot hinge and it opens into a specially designed ‘nook’ so it becomes a part of the wall when open. I’ve shown it to you here from both directions. I like this one. It’s a bit different! As with all of these things though, you need to plan ahead to make sure the nook is built when the stud walls go up AND that it’s the right size! I used pocket door flush handles with a roller catch, as normal lever handles would obviously prevent the flush opening.
