Your garden plants need protection from digging and hungry chickens! What I really like using now are wooden posts placed intermittently, with protruding screws placed at the top and bottom of the post, to attach rolled plastic fencing (we used 0.5m tall in 5m length). In comparison I think this looks very neat and tidy, is more robust, quick to 'open and close' for access, and easily stored to use again. Read more about this on my blog! During the fall and spring, I use fine insect netting to prevent the white moth from laying eggs and chewing on my brassicas once the eggs hatch. Depending on what I'm growing, it could be deer netting to simply protect the wildlife from devouring my vegetables. They protect garden vegetables and flowers from free range chickens, trampling dogs and even some digging pests like rabbits. I do not stake mine down, I like to be able to lift them up for easy weeding.
