Longfellow's Wayside Inn in Sudbury, Massachusetts. Named for Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's 1863 book of poetry inspired by its patrons, it's the oldest operating inn in the United States. Once serving as an important stagecoach stop, it's offered comfort and hospitality to travelers along the Boston Post Road since 1716. Henry Ford championed the historic preservation of the 125-acre property as a living museum of American history from 1923 to 1945. Today it is run as a non-profit entity.
