The 50th anniversary of Saturday Night Live on Sunday was the hottest ticket in town in years with a star-studded lineup including Alec Baldwin, Adam Sandler, Amy Poehler, Chevy Chase, Chris Rock, Dave Chappelle, Eddie Murphy, Garrett Morris, Jane Curtin, Jason Sudeikis, Kim Kardashian, Kristen Wiig, Pete Davidson, Paul McCartney, Paul Simon, Robert De Niro, Tina Fey, Tom Hanks and Will Ferrell appearing among others.

The show followed SNL50: The Homecoming Concert, which saw performances from the likes of Cher, the Backstreet Boys, Miley Cyrus, David Byrne and the surviving members of Nirvana.
