Here is GlowFlake™, my 2007 Fender Custom Shop gold Sparkle ‘60 Relic Stratocaster, in one of the photos from today’s reel.
The amps are a trio of transitional Fenders:

1964 tuxedo Bassman
1964 5F1 Champ
#Straturday throwback to May 2015 at @samashmusic NYC and lovely black 1969 #Stratocaster.
The price tag is a bit obscured by lighting reflections but if you can just make it out, it may seem high to you for a #CBS#Strat back in 2015. I mean, I can remember seeing a lovely ‘66 Strat in Rochester 6 months earlier for only 10k…so why is this one 18k??
My guess is because 1) it’s a custom color (black), and 2) black is one of the rarest custom colors on any #Fender. I believe you had to pay extra for black (or any other custom color) up until the mid 70s when Fender expanded from 1 standard finish (on a Strat, that was “sunburst”, like that 10k '66 I saw in Rochester…), to a few standard colours (including black). I guess pretty much nobody wanted to pay extra to get a black finish in the 50s and 60s, so they are very hard to find.
A couple of “touristy” guitar shots from my trip to #NewYorkCity, 8 years ago this month:
1964 #Gibson#ES335 TDC
1956/57 #Fender#Stratocaster
Both were spotted at Guitar Center in Times Square (which I just found out is not there any more??)
Other than being a couple of lovely vintage guitars, absolutely nothing else about them makes them at all special in the least…
EXCEPT THEY WERE BOTH OWNED BY ERIC CLAPTON FOR SEVERAL DECADES AND USED BY HIM LIVE AND ON SOME OF THE MOST FAMOUS RECORDS EVER MADE, BY ANYONE, EVER!
It was an honour just to be in the same room with these iconic instruments. So much music history was made on them. It was like seeing the Mona Lisa in the Louvre. Except you could walk right up to these…you can’t get anywhere near the Mona Lisa! 🤣
11 years ago to this day I shot this photo at Guitar Center on W 14th St. in NYC.
One of a kind original Dave Newman Stratocaster collaboration with master builder Chris Fleming.
1962 #Stratocaster in #Shoreline Gold, from a friend’s collection.
This one can be seen in a famous book about guitars…but you’ll just have to guess which one! 😉

OK, how do you feel about a super clean 1963 #Stratocaster in Candy Apple Red with mint guard, dark rosewood board and clay dots?
I feel pretty darn good about it!

Listen: I can’t talk now…heading out shortly to see and shoot (and hopefully have time to play!) some rare and beautiful instruments from some well known #Toronto area musicians and collectors. Will share what I can, as soon as I can. Wish me luck…it’s going to be a hot one in downtown Tdot today (in more ways than just the weather!) 😂
