Read to Self anchor chart features different strategies and rules for independent reading. Be a leader! Be a reader! 1) find a good fit book. 2)find a comfortable place to sit. 3) sit still. 4) keep your eyes on the book. 5) read quietly. 6) stay focused. 7) look at the pictures. 8) sound-out new words. 9) think about what might happen next.

These are all the ideas the students came up with about what good readers look like during independent reading time. We also named him Roel thanks to my intern teacher!
