We help you grow. on Instagram: "One of our favorite ways to trellis big, vining tomatoes is with string and a few tomato clips - that’s it! When you transplant your tomato, you can either bury the string underneath your tomato to secure it in the ground, or tie the string to a stake and press into the soil.

Then, tie the other end of the string to a simple structure above the tomato plant made of 2x4 lumber or metal conduit. Both are relatively inexpensive at most hardware stores. Our setup cost $50 to make and grows about 12 huge vining tomatoes.

Every 1’ (0.3m) or so, snap a tomato clip (which you can find at most nurseries) to the string and around your tomato’s main stem. As the tomato grows, you may want to also prune off any side shoots that grow out, but this is optional.

I keep it pretty simple: sections of jute twine (strong sisal or nylon works as well) are secured onto the top beam using a lark’s head knot and then suspended down towards each tomato plant.    ✂️ The length of jute needed for each plant: I double the height of the structure (the lark’s head knot I use naturally “doubles” the twine) and then add a couple of feet extra feet for any adjustments.    🪢 Once the twine is secured at the top, guide each one down towards the base of th Tall Tomato Support, Indeterminate Tomatoes Support, How To Support Tomato Plants, Tomato Support Ideas, Tomato Plant Support, Hanging Tomato Plants, Indeterminate Tomatoes, Plants Guide, Tomato Support
