Something I need to be reminded of often. Yes, I’m very lazy and also have executive problems up the wazoo (the difference? laziness is fun), but the cultural expectation of being productive every waking moment isn’t healthy either. And the business of feeding ourselves is especially fraught these days.
This is the same topic and screenshot that gave some of my chudliest chud haters such a meltdown after I posted it myself once, they raged at me for days and one by one dropped off of Tumblr forever. This subject kills idiots.
there aren’t enough posts going around about the swedish cryptid known as the skvader which is a rabbit with pheasant wings and also a very good boy.
like this one dude just made a fake taxidermy and spread it around as a hoax for a good ass while and it lead to this really cool fantasy creature and i am genuinely dissapointed that it never gets used in anything
THE BOY
Rabbirds, by the amazing @tkingfisher/Ursula Vernon (source).
The lack of skvaders is particularly frustrating when you realize it forms the third point of a wonderful cryptid trifecta.
You got the jackalopes, which are rabbits with antlers.
And you got the wolpertingers, which are rabbits with antlers and wings.
And then… what? Do you escalate? That’s unbalanced, those two rabbit cryptids don’t have the same number of extra things, the wolpertinger is clearly the jackalope But More.
BUT with the skvader on the other side, balance is restored. Antler rabbit, winged rabbit, winged antler rabbit. It’s a classic Venn diagram of imaginary lapine beasts, and it’s only complete if you acknowledge the fucking skvader.
Good thing Ursula’s got our back, at least.
This is a really excellent point and I applaud your advancements in Cryptid Theory.
I don’t mean to be old but computer used to just have games. U didnt have to pay for em either but if u wanted u could get a little CD that put the game onto the computer and you could play it forever and ever even if the company that made it went to hell and shit. You didn’t even need the internet or wifi or anything. And it was pretty neat
It would be a finished game, too. If you played long enough and did really good you could go to all the places and get all the stuff. You never had to pay more money later it was just there. onn compter
big fan of when youtubers break out the corkboard and string. thats when you know youre in for an insanely pointless breakdown of a media you’re only tangentially familiar with.

wait how could i forget him. mr gilbert the king of this genre.
Me: “The food webs we try to teach children and the public are too simple to get the point across. Why do they never bother to show the more intricate relationships between specific species? It can’t be that hard to represent with basic teaching tools… I’ll make the thing!”
The thing:
Me: “….I get it now.”
I have now had several teachers ask me if they can use this image in a class presentation.
mythbusters was so good because it wasn’t a killjoy show. they didn’t just say “see, it doesn’t work” and leave it there
whenever they find that the stunt doesn’t work as portrayed in the movie, they immediately ask “what would it take to make this happen?”
“we know it takes this amount of explosives to work, but what if we doubled it anyway?”
Some myths I’ll always remember:
* Are elephants scared of mice? (They only did that because they were in Africa and had access to elephants.)
* Will a bull run amok in a china shop?
* Is it better to run zig-zag or straight when chased by an alligator?
I love these because NONE of them turned out the way they expected. They went into all three with pre-conceived ideas of how it would go, and each time they “failed.” Elephants WILL cower from mice. A bull moves very gingerly through a china shop. It doesn’t matter how you run because ALLIGATORS WON’T CHASE YOU.
And each time, they reacted with just… pure glee. “Holy shit, we were wrong! Oh my god! This is great! We were so wrong!”
And that, to me, is what science is. Being excited about being wrong because either way it’s information.
Whoever wrote that Vanguard message did so with shaking hands, between sobs & swigs of bourbon straight from the bottle.
They’re right, though. Now is exactly the wrong time to make dramatic investment moves. Everybody’s shit is doing the same thing; unless you need your retirement money in the next twelve months or whatever, you’re better off leaving it alone and waiting for the eventual correction. Like, this is not a comforting lie, this is good advice!
Adultier adult here, having had to talk to my retirement management people earlier this week. (I hate it. It’s useless. But I told them to divest me from anything that holds TSLA in the portfolio/fund because Elon is an asshole and the company’s financials are shit.)
This week has caused about three percent (3%) of my 401(k) to vanish.
And that’s okay.
I can’t touch that money without a tax penalty (or emergency) until the 2030’s. It’s not paying for cat food or keeping my electricity on. This is a privilege not everyone enjoys (yet).
If you’re in a position to have any kind of investments, don’t do anything rash and/or bananas with important chunks of money. (My financial guy gave me this advice, too. I specifically asked about cashing out the whole fucking thing.)
They’re all so nice lmaooo. I love watching the strategy shift from ‘let’s try and be normal hokey players’ to ‘what do we just toppled each other over in the most stupid ways possible’ to ‘who can hurl themself across the ice faster than anyone else?’
it’s fantastic, we’re plundering the strategic depths of minds that are, in their own teams, largely all known to be the silliest fucker on the ice.
Every goalie I’ve ever known and heard of has had distinct unhinged jester energy.
NJ Democrat senator Cory Booker takes the floor in protest of Trump/Musk, “saying that he will keep going “'as long as I am physically able’.”
“I rise with the intention of disrupting the normal business of the United States Senate for as long as I am physically able,” Booker said at the outset of his remarks. “I rise tonight because I believe sincerely that our country is in crisis.”
“In just 71 days, the president of the United States has inflicted so much harm on Americans’ safety; financial stability; the core foundations of our democracy. “These are not normal times in America. And they should not be treated as such in the United States Senate.” -source
I am posting this at 2:30am EST. He has been speaking since 7PM EST. This link (at this moment) is to a live stream.
FUCK YEAH, JERSEY!
So very proud of my state at the moment.
Reblogging and adding the livestream link from Senator Booker’s YouTube (the other one was glitching) . It is almost 4am. He is still going STRONG. If you are watching and plan to go to sleep, turn the volume down and leave it up so that the "watching” number reflects the involvement of people supporting him.
If he can LITERALLY stand and protest as a single voice, we can keep it playing and symbolically stand with him.
Yeah! That’s what I’m talking about. No business as usual! Slow the Fascists down! He should get some Democrat colleagues to join him so they can periodically cede to each other and spell each other off to keep it up longer!
STILL GOING! If you can open up the livestream to show support.
Folks, he’s still going - and importantly, he’s talking about his own shortcomings, his own failures and the things he wants to do better because he knows he fucked up the last time.

If your disdain for Democrats has been rooted largely in their reluctance to meet the moment, then I heartily encourage you to watch the livestream — other Democratic senators are asking long-winded “questions (which is part of the rules and allows Booker to take the occasional break for a drink of water or to rest his feet or whatnot) and helping however they can.
Booker’s going to hit 24 hours at 7 pm and it’s worth watching a few minutes, don’t you think?
